A Collection Of Memories

Many of us take photos on our phones when we travel but local artist Helen Peel takes it one brush stroke further, capturing exotic locations and the people she meets on canvas. Now, she’s back in Noosa and ready to share her travel experiences with the community in a new exhibition.

They say a picture tells 1,000 words and this couldn’t be truer for the works of Helen Peel. A prolific painter, Helen has long captured the essence of travel in her pretty scenes of English gardens, the mysterious waterways of Venice and the intriguing faces of the people she meets.

Helen loves to travel and has seen many places, all that inspire her works. Now, she’s back in Noosa ready to launch what is her ninth exhibition and second solo exhibition after painting for the past 12 years.

As Helen explains, Collections is an exhibition of things, places and people she has seen throughout her travels and has brought to life on canvas using dynamic colours and a fine attention to detail.

“I am bringing back memories of travels in places around the world such as Italy, France, Spain and Canada. Many of these places, people can only dream about so I’m going to take you there,” Helen says.

Helen loves to bring light into her works showcasing the often playful nature of travel and exploration. Helen also loves to capture the faces and cultures of the many people she meets throughout her journeys and expresses these connections using her unique rub-off technique.

Often moody and romantic, Helen’s rub-off portraits and landscapes are a deeper portrayal of the places she visits and the people she meets. Collections will be on show at the Julia Carter Gallery.
