All About Kids At The Civic
This season it’s all about the kids at Noosa Civic Shopping Centre. Jolene Ogle discovers you can bring them down to the centre to learn to cook, INdulge in a morning of play and even dine with The Grinch.
The saying goes “happy wife, happy life” but as a mum of two little ones, I strongly believe it should be “happy kids, happier life for everyone.” I’m not saying we should indulge our kids, but when they’re allowed to run, explore, play and learn, they always seem happier and content – which is great for parents and carers!
Noosa Civic Shopping Centre knows this too, and they know mums, dads and carers need a break every now and then! Every Wednesday morning from 10am, the Centre invites a special fairy to the food court to entertain the little ones with stories, bubbles and balloon animals for Kid’s Morning.
There’s a playground where they can run free and lots of tables where adults can relax with a coffee and take a few moments for yourself. If you’ve got a babe in arms, the centre also offers free Caregivers and Bubs Morning every Thursday from 10am in The Little Community Space. Catch up with other mums, dads and carers and enjoy a free coffee thanks to Noosa Civic.
It’s a great chance to share the fun times of parenting as well as the stress, tiredness and all those number threes we must endure. If you have a budding master chef in the family, they can learn to make rice paper rolls and chia pods these school holidays with special mini chef masterclasses.
From Monday 23 September to Friday 4 October, kids can learn the art of creating in the kitchen at the Mini Chef Session plus they get to take home their apron and recipes to keep cooking at home! Sessions are held at 9am and 11am daily with only 20 places available (so make sure you book!).
Classes are $5 each with all donations going to the Slow Food Noosa School Garden Program. If your child is more like me – prefers to eat rather than cook – then they will love the chance to dine with a festive favourite.
The loveable Grinch and his festive friends are heading to Noosa Civic Shopping Centre on Sunday 16 November for a special party. Yes, it’s time to start thinking Christmas…. It’s only $10 to dine with Grinch with all funds going to the Katie Rose Cottage hospice. Guests can enjoy food, drink and a gift bag to take home as well a glimpse of Santa as the festival party welcomes the Big Guy to the centre.
