Jess and Michael from Another Blind Man aren’t just another local business, they are part of the fabric of community with a business built on genuine connection.
Jess says that she and husband Michael, didn’t start the business from scratch. It had been lovingly run by a local couple who have since retired.
“We were looking for something that offered flexibility for our family and something we could do together,” she says. “Another Blind Man allows us to apply both our skills and passion.”
Michael brings decades of hands on experience as a builder and as a landscaper.
“He’s a perfectionist,” Jess smiles. “He knows exactly what’s required for an installation and he doesn’t miss a thing when it comes to measurements.”
Jess, meanwhile, adds her interior expertise from years working in high end homewares and fashion.
“It means we’re a really balanced team. He handles the technical side, and I help clients shape the look and feel of their spaces,” she says.
The name Another Blind Man has always been a playful nod to the number of window furnishing businesses on the Coast – a cheeky, memorable title that sticks with people.
“It’s light hearted,” Jess says. “And people remember it.”
They offer the full suite of interior and exterior window furnishings and it’s clear that being local isn’t just part of their story, it’s the foundation of how they operate.
“Our clients are our neighbours, our friends,” Jess explains. “We live in the same community, the same climate. We understand what works near the beach and what lasts in the hinterland.”
Their commitment to the region runs deep: they use only local manufacturers and suppliers, and they’re known for going the extra mile – whether it’s an after hours visit or tailoring advice to the quirks of Sunshine Coast living.
“It’s not just a transaction,” Jess says. “It’s a relationship.”
When asked what sets Another Blind Man apart, Jess responds immediately.
“We work with you from start to finish. It’s our family name on every blind and curtain we hang,” she says.
