08 Oct Ash Keating Painting Performance
As Noosa starts its mid-week workday, Ash Keating will also start work on his three large-scale canvases for Floating Land: point to point, destined for display along the Palm Grove Circuit in the Noosa National Park.
In a rare opportunity to witness his creative process unfold, Keating gives us painting as performance, making his work with an audience looking on, adjacent to the entry to Noosa Regional Gallery from 8am.
Keating’s atmospheric abstract works see him shoot pigment onto prepared surfaces with a spray gun or fire extinguisher filled with paint. The resulting fields of tone and colour echo the nuanced shifts and organic forms that can be observed throughout the natural environment.
*Please note, while it has been estimated that this painting performance will take place over the course of approximately 3 hours, this length of time may vary depending on how the paintings evolve and what the artist decides is required for their completion.
SEA FM’s Breakfast Show will broadcast from outside the front of Noosa Regional Gallery on the morning of Keating’s painting performance from 6am. Audiences will also get their first glimpse of one of the caravans from Brook Andrew’s Travelling Colony project which will be revealed during the outside broadcast.
