05 Jun Q&A with Artist Sarah Rayner
Join local artist, Sarah Rayner for a relaxed conversation and morning tea.
Living in bushland on the outskirts of Maleny, surrounded by flora, Sarah draws much of her inspiration from Australian native plants. As an artist she predominately works sculpturally creating collections of objects.
Her particular interest lies in the reproductive organs of plants, primarily the parts of a flower that develop into the fruit and seeds. Sarah scrutinizes and dissects these amazing little structures examining the form, textures, layers, cracks and crevices. The fragility and delicate balance of the natural world are overriding and recurring themes in Sarah’s work.
Sarah has exhibited locally, nationally and internationally and has been commissioned for various public artworks.
