Feminine Freedom: Reed & Co.

Behind every property deal, there’s a story of hope, perseverance, and realising dreams. And these stories have been increasingly female of late, Noosa real estate expert Kate Cox shares with Melanie Rosettenstein.

There’s just something about property that captures people’s attention. Offering financial security, emotional fulfillment, practical benefits, and the chance for self-expression, the desire to own property is uniquely human.

Reed and Co’s Kate Cox has been in the Noosa real estate business for more than 15 years and lately has found the story of property to be uniquely female.

“It’s been a very interesting few months for me because the majority of my clients have been women, both sellers and buyers,” Kate enthuses.

She shares some wonderful stories behind her latest property deals and the protagonists who were all women.

Noosa Heads and Noosaville – Leaving a legacy

Two of her most memorable sales in recent months were both from deceased estates. Kate says both owners were women living on their own who owned their properties for more than 20 years. One was a holiday penthouse in Netanya Noosa Resort on Hastings Street, and the other was a beautifully converted townhouse in Noosaville.

These property sales were notable because both women believed strongly that their property’s value was superior; and interestingly this confidence was validated as both homes sold for higher than the asking prices, despite being an estate sale, which can often sell for less.

Kate said it was rewarding to help fulfill these women’s dreams of their homes being worth so much, even after they had passed away.

“They were both proud of their achievements and the properties they owned, and this was evident when they went to market,” she shared.

Noosa Waters – Dreams come true

Kate also sold a Noosa Waters home valued at around $2 million. The seller was a single mother who bought the home, and coincidentally, the buyer was also a single mother.

The buyer had worked incredibly hard building her own business over the last four years, enabling her to purchase this beautiful house for herself and her teenage daughter.

This home, complete with a swimming pool and garden, represented a significant milestone for the buyer, as it was the first large and beautiful property she could proudly offer her daughter, and where they could now gather with their family and friends.

The buyer worked six-to-seven days a week in her business to provide a life that her daughter could be proud of.

The seller, also a single mother who had returned to Melbourne due to work commitments, was overjoyed that someone else who had worked hard and had children would be taking over the house she had cherished.

Noosa Heads – Downsize

Another lovely story: Kate recently sold a beautiful home in Noosa Heads for just under $3 million. The owner was a Sydney executive who’d relocated to Noosa to work remotely.

However, as it happens sometimes in life, the highly successful lady’s plans did not go accordingly, and she made a U-turn. Instead of continuing with her corporate career, her move to Noosa precipitated a much larger and momentous life change.

Taken with Noosa’s unique and relaxed lifestyle, she sold the house, and bought a smaller — but just as beautiful home. This allowed her the freedom to start her own business and travel and she is even planning an adventure to climb part of Mount Everest.

Realising there was more to life and using property, ingenuity, and heaps of courage, she completely transformed her life, stepping away from the corporate world she had known for so long, and into a lifestyle that offered her more freedom.

This is how dreams come true, one property at a time!
