Style Counsel – At Home With Casa Noosa
We chat with interior designer Twyllalee Bellette of Casa Noosa to get her best tips on how to create spaces you love within your home.
WHAT STYLE ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR PEOPLE WHO WANT TO CREATE STUNNING SPACES AT HOME?
Every room needs one hero piece designed to steal the limelight – something that will make an impact. It should be that one thing you fall in love with the moment you see it; then surround it with items that are practical and make it shine. Make sure there is space to breathe and finish the space with the right artwork and a touch of greenery to soften. Planning a space doesn’t need to cost a fortune, it just requires the right placement and balance of hard and soft furnishings to make the room shine.
HOW DID YOU FIND YOURSELF IN THE WORLD OF INTERIOR DESIGN/ HOMEWARES RETAIL? We started designing and furnishing our own home projects more than 15 years ago. After our fifth house sold with all the furniture and homewares included, we thought we might have a style that people liked. I completed my interior design qualifications during this time and we started going on buying trips and importing pieces that sold really well. Casa Noosa Interiors then became available to buy, so we took up this opportunity.
WHAT INSPIRES YOUR CHOICE OF PRODUCTS AND PIECES FOR CASA NOOSA? Unique would be the first thing, Coastal Luxe or Coastal Pure are our ranges and with Take Noosa Home as our tag line, we want to symbolise Noosa living.
YOU HAVE MANY UNIQUE PIECES IN STORE, SUCH AS THE WOOD SCULPTURES AND SOLID WOOD FURNITURE. WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO FIND SUCH PIECES?
Noosa is unique and so we want a lot of our pieces to reflect this. We are always looking for new pieces. We also design and import a large amount of our own furniture and homewares, so it is important for us to find special pieces that you just won’t find in every store.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE THE STYLE/VIBE OF CASA NOOSA?
Our style at Casa Noosa is always to create a space that combines comfort, style and function. The perfect space needs to be easy to maintain. To truly love a space, means it has a feeling, a purpose and of course, the looks.
IS THERE A STYLE THAT IS MOST POPULAR IN NOOSA?
Noosa has a diverse market when it comes to home design from the beautiful coastal home to the hinterland hideaway with a mid-century twist. Noosa is renowned for its beautiful homes which are unique and reflect the landscapes that surround them.
WHAT STYLE ARE YOU DRAWN TO?
Any style, but just like a great painting, you want to add those special touches to finish it off properly.
