Country Hospitality at The Doonan

Friends and family enjoyed a sneak peek of the region’s most exciting and highly-anticipated venue, The Doonan. Deb Caruso was there to experience the country hospitality.

It was ‘cheers’ all around as the team behind The Doonan hosted family and friends to explore and adore their $6 million masterpiece prior to opening.

Since acquiring the two-hectare site in 2006, Comiskey Group have worked to create a paddock-to-plate dining experience showcasing local produce and craft beer in a sprawling site that honours and incorporates the original and iconic 1990 German restaurant.

The family-owned company behind the multi award-winning Sandstone Point Hotel and Eatons Hill Hotel have partnered with long-time friends and hospitality veterans, Josh Jones and Neville Allen to bring another unique venue to life.

Lush landscaping, rustic brickwork and stunning lighting will see this place shine day and night. With several bars, a dedicated ice cream station, pizzeria, Bottleshop and indoor and alfresco dining spaces; as well as herb and vegetable gardens and ample green spaces for kids to explore, The Doonan is set to become a favourite destination for locals and visitors.

If the friendly and attentive service and hospitality by the relatively young team is anything to go by, Comiskey Group are sure to have another multi award-winner on their hands – and that makes us all winners! Cheers to that!
