The spirit shone bright for Nil Desperandum’s Rum Fire 2024 – the hottest event to celebrate Queensland Rum Day as Deb Caruso discovered.

On 2 November 2024, rum producers across the state staged a series of events to celebrate the much loved spirit of Queensland, with the team behind Nil Desperandum Rum and Sunshine & Sons Premium Spirits undoubtedly hosting the ‘hottest’ celebration!

For the second year running, the Woombye distillery that is home to the global award-winning Nil Desperandum lit up the skyline for Rum Fire – a sunset bonfire with live music, kids entertainment and food trucks. Always up for a collaboration and in support of the industry, the Nil Desperandum crew invited three other guest distilleries to join in the fun to showcase their own artisan rums.

The day also marked the release of the 2024 Limited Edition blend, The Rum Consortium, a historic collaboration between Queensland’s Beenleigh Rum, Bundaberg Rum, Kalki Moon Distilling and Nil Desperandum Rums! The spirits were higher than the flames which burned bright in appreciation of the incredible producers using Queensland sugar cane to create liquid gold. Cheers to that – see you next year to raise a glass and toast to local success.
