Sunnies Signature Selection at Sunnies
What if your next favourite drink was made right here on the Sunshine Coast? Elizabeth Monthe discovers the diverse range of favourites adored by the Sunnies team.
As we step into the warmth of the new season, a visit to the aptly-named Sunnies Bottleshop in Sunshine Beach, is the perfect spot for the finest drops. Part of the Peregian Beach Hotel family, this charming shop conjures up vibes of capturing moments on a vintage film camera, carefree in the sand while sipping the best local beer.
Sunnies has exactly the kind of inviting atmosphere that draws in the locals and is worth a drive to discover a passionate team ready to help you discover the best tipple for your taste. It’s vibrant, retro-inspired branding lets you know that this is no ordinary bottleshop – you could say that it’s ‘out of the (big) box’ thinking with bright colours, and a curated selection of stock.
Owner Kylie Plunkett said the aim was to be a fun and quirky destination bottleshop that set itself apart from others.
“We want Sunnies to feel warm, friendly and a little bit different – like Sunshine Beach” she said.
As an independent business, Sunnies is passionate about championing local producers and showcasing the incredible talent found across the region.
“We have great relationships with our local producers and suppliers, and we always want to celebrate the people behind each bottle,” Kylie says. “We know our local brewers, gin distillers and wine suppliers personally and love bringing them in store to meet our customers with regular tastings at Sunnies.”
Here are some of Sunnies’ current favourites and best tips for spring drinking, loved by both the team and the lovely folk regularly buying them.
Land & Sea Juicebox IPA
Does it get more local than Noosa’s first craft brewery? Land & Sea has been a favourite at Sunnies since the brewery first launched, and its Juicebox IPA remains a standout among the team. It’s a go-to choice at Sunnies and a great example of the local beers that the team loves to have on the shelves. If you’re looking to try something from a brewery close to home, Juicebox IPA is a firm favourite.

Mountain Culture Status Quo Pale
From the Blue Mountains, Mountain Culture makes awesome beer and is an incredible independent brewery.
The Status Quo Pale is a standout choice and a favourite at Sunnies, with the brewery taking out the #1 GABS winner title four years in a row. With such a strong reputation behind it, it’s easy to see why it has become a Sunnies favourite.

Ghost Rock Supernatural Pinot Noir
Ghost Rock is a beautiful, family-owned vineyard on the stunning Cradle Coast of Tasmania. Their Supernatural Pinot Noir is an absolutely delicious drop and a favourite at Sunnies, showcasing the quality and character that makes this vineyard so special. It’s the kind of bottle you’ll want to come back to, and a beloved favourite among the Sunnies team.

Brini Estate Wines
Brini is a multigenerational, family-owned vineyard in McLaren Vale, making some really delicious and approachable wines. It’s hard for the Sunnies team to pick a favourite between the Rosé and the Chenin Blanc, with both offering something they love. So, rather than choosing between the two, they recommend trying both and deciding which one is your favourite.

Beudi Sparkling Margi
How cool is this? Beudi is an Australian agave drink in a can, made with all Australian native ingredients. From northern NSW, Beudi is a bit different, just like Sunnies, and that’s exactly what they love about it.
After a recent tasting at Sunnies, they’ve been flying out the door, with plenty of customers discovering and loving this unique Australian drink for themselves.

Seabourne Coastal Gin
Seabourne Distillery, a local supplier, of course, has really great gin. Amazing Australian ingredients are used, like river mint, native sea parsley, finger lime and sunrise citrus, bringing together flavours that take you straight to Noosa in one sip. The team recommend drinking it with Fever-Tree Mediterranean Tonic and a native finger lime garnish. It’s a local favourite at Sunnies and a great choice for anyone wanting to enjoy a taste of the coast.
