More than the sum of its parts

This exhibition brings together an ambitiously scaled ensemble of works to recreate the vast and varied ecosystem that is the Noosa natural environment.
A salon hang of breathtaking proportions, the works of Noosa’s creative community are brought together in an installation that seeks to give a unique perspective on this special place they call home.

Trevor Purvis: Australian Sienna 

Sunshine Coast-based artist Trevor Purvis presents a suite of recent works with an endless variation of texture and form as offered by the Australian landscape. He embraces an expressive palette and an intuitive approach to mark making that sets a spark under the compositions he brings to life.

National Photographic Portrait Prize 2023

Australia is a country with myriad faces, and as we continue to live in disruptive times, the National Photographic Portrait Prize offers a sweeping view across the nation’s experience, one that reminds us that our lives continue on regardless of wider circumstances. Now in its 15th year, this annual exhibition draws from entries submitted by amateur and professional photographers from across Australia.

Threads: The Ties That Bind

Discover the distinctive textile art and craft produced by members, including handmade paper and bookmaking, complemented by poems from the Haiku Poetry Group. Also discover displays of quilting, knitting, crochet, smocking, embroidery and beading.

Pen & Wash for Beginners with Lizzie Connor

Pen and Wash is a fresh and fun way of combining some watercolour techniques with your drawing skills. Using lightweight materials makes this process perfect for travel journaling or quick, inspired sketches with some colour added, and scenarios where there is a lot of movement and colour. $95 for members and $115 for non-members.

Animals in Pastel with Maxine Thompson 

Master Pastelist Maxine Thompson will show you how to achieve the likeness and character of the subject. Dealing with shadows to light up the animal portraits and backgrounds to set up the subject, from choice of paper, colour, or tone and colours to enhance the edges of the subject or realistic scenes. $225 for members and $250 for non-members.

Earthly Nuances

A group exhibition of paintings and sculptures on the theme of Ocean Eyes encompasses both the relationship with the ocean in any form and the human archetype of the emotional, intuitive and dreamy aspect of a personal water sign/type.

Mirror Mirror

In conjunction with International Women’s Day, 17 local female artists explore self-discovery through their reflections in a mirror. Each artist interprets their identity through art imposed on a physical mirror, while leaving space for the audience to see themselves. A second artwork reveals their reflection by introducing a mirror into the dynamic of a painted scene.

Arboreal Connections 

Artists of contemporary art collective Carte Blanche investigate their rich and diverse natural environment, exploring and developing their personal homage to individual trees. The exhibition is intended to raise awareness and bring attention to the importance of trees both on a global scale and in our immediate environments.

Seeing the Soul: Hoofbeats Sanctuary Art Prize and Exhibition

This major annual fundraising initiative to support and promote Hoofbeats Sanctuary’s work celebrates and showcases equine art and raises awareness of mental health. With over
40 local and interstate artists participating, 20 ceramic horse statues will be decorated by a range of Australia’s most loved and respected celebrities. The pieces will be auctioned live and online during the Closing Event on 29 April.

Botanical Expressions: Naida Ginnane 

Naida’s works on paper and fine art photography focuses on humanity’s environmental impact. Her work uses floral motifs to represent the beauty, fragility and vulnerability of our environment, as well as the increasing and yet unknown effects of our disturbance.

Art Jam 

A five-week mini-studio exhibition and demonstration where the art loving public can come face to face with over 30 different artists and find out about their work practices.

Pomona Railway Station Gallery is again holding its popular Art Market in the Paddock in the grounds of the gallery on Easter Saturday, with a huge variety of work on offer.

A Familiar Landscape

Debra Dougherty and Judith Spence

Long-time collaborators Judith and Debra use tendrils of line and colour to respond to nature’s own creations. Debra paints expressive scenes of nature’s abundance, while Judith works in hand-built ceramics, bisque fired with multiple glazes.

A Thousand Steps into Colour

Roxanne celebrates colour through light and brilliance, using a broad range of techniques to create hand-painted wearable silks, artworks, drawings and original prints.

Sampling the Sunshine!

Tom & Anne Kerr and Ken Walker

The sea, the surf, the sand, the sunshine. Love of the Sunshine Coast, its warmth and its light are reflected in this exhibition. Oils, pastels, inks, glass, driftwood and more are used in a mixture of approaches.
