Sunshine Coast Business Awards Chair Jennifer Swaine shares why she believes in the importance of supporting and celebrating local businesses.
Did you know that between the Noosa and Sunshine Coast regions there are just over 40,000 small-businesses registered?
When you think about it – it is small business that is the heart and soul of our region.
They are in every industry from tourism to manufacturing, food and agribusiness, cleantech, professional services and everything in between.
Small businesses employ the people who work in the café and restaurants, or who do your accounting, provide you with legal advice or who treat you when you are unwell.
They also produce the local meat, eggs, milk, cheese and veges that we so proudly showcase across the region; and they fix our plumbing, build our homes, tile our bathrooms, help with maintenance, service our cars and publish first class publications (like the one you are reading).
Without small business, our economy ceases to thrive.
We succeed as a region because we have a thriving ecosystem of small businesses that continue to evolve, adapt, collaborate and pivot every year.
They are run by hardworking, committed, dedicated humans that are more resilient than even they realise.
It is for this reason that the Sunshine Coast Business Awards exist. Every year we encourage these incredible businesses to enter the awards and gain the recognition they deserve for running an outstanding local business – big or small.
And we are once again off and running for 2024, having launched this year’s awards at a breakfast attended by 250 people in early May.
The awards are an important platform for our business community as they allow us to recognise and celebrate the success of the talent we are very fortunate to have here on the Sunshine Coast.
Now in their 29th year the business awards have become a highly recognised business recognition program that I truly believe is on par with any awards program in Australia!
Testimony to the value, people and businesses place on the prestige and recognition of these awards, every year we see an increase in entries and the calibre of the businesses who enter continues to rise.
The Sunshine Coast Business Awards are open to ALL Sunshine Coast and Noosa businesses that have been operating in the region for 12 months or more. You do not have to be nominated to enter and it is not a popularity contest – multiple nominations will make no difference should you choose
to apply. But you should apply, or nominate your favourite local business!
The Sunshine Coast Business Awards belong to all of us and provides a platform that allows businesses from across our region to be recognised for their outstanding business efforts.
