Lifeflight Centre

About

Ever wondered what happens between the emergency call and the yellow and blue helicopter lifting off? The LifeFlight Jocelyn Walker Visitor Experience and Education Centre at Sunshine Coast Airport in Marcoola offers a rare behind-the-scenes look at the region’s lifesaving aeromedical service, and it’s free for all ages. Named in honour of LifeFlight Vice Patron Jocelyn Walker AM, a long-standing advocate and philanthropic supporter, the centre sits within LifeFlight’s new $18.5 million Sunshine Coast base.

Visitors follow a rescue mission from the first emergency call through to patient care, with interactive simulations that reflect the real thing. A dedicated viewing area looks into the hangar, where you can watch aircraft between missions and hear from the medical, aviation and ground crews in their own words. The centre also introduces First Minutes Matter, LifeFlight’s free community trauma training program.

The Sunshine Coast crew airlifted 672 people in 2025, and this is your chance to see how it all comes together. It’s a great outing for families, school groups and curious locals alike.
