Entries close 12pm on Wednesday 13 April.

Pop into Happy Pops for happiness on a stick! Their all-natural artisanal gelato and sorbet pops are the perfect alternative Easter treats. Try the premium pops or create your own happiness by choosing a naked pop, dressing it up in chocolate and accessorising with any three toppings! Visit their store on Hastings Street or the newly opened dessert bar in Eumundi.

The state-of-the-art cooking school at ALBA Chef’s Kitchen will immerse you in the culinary experience. Learn the secrets of Sri Lankan cuisine with Peter Kuruvita at his hands-on Sri Lankan Curry Masterclass, where he teaches you his grandmother’s favourite recipes and shares his family background. On Thursday 14 April from 11am to 3pm, create healthy curries with fresh spices, aromas, coconut, curry leaves and lime while hearing tales of Peter’s homeland. If you want true relaxation, Noosa Cartel has done all the cooking for you with restaurant-quality meals that are just a pot of boiling water away. FUN!

When faced with two whole weeks of free time, having fun is the only thing on a kid’s mind – and probably yours too! Whatever your idea of fun may be, you’ll find it in Noosa. Explore new worlds, find inspiration in local galleries and theatres and cultivate a bit of artistic talent yourself!

Australia Day opened last night at Noosa Arts Theatre! Directed by Jane Rivers, this play offers a satirical and intimate look at the often-thankless work of volunteers of the Australia Day Committee in the fictional town of Coriole. Grab a lamington and a stubbie, sit back, and find out if Coriole’s Australia Day will be a little ripper, or will it go off like a bucket of prawns in the sun! Catch evening performances at 7.30pm on 8, 14, 15 and 16 April, matinees at 2pm on 9, 10 and 16 April and the Zonta Charity Performance including a complimentary drink and supper at 7.30pm on 13 April. Book now!

Opening this Saturday 9 April, Arcadia Street Gallery presents Jacob Pedrana’s Hearts and Flowers exhibition. Jake’s colourful, flamboyant works with throwaway lines taken from things as diverse as movies to Marlboro cigarettes, hint at something deeper and more complex. Living the great Australian dream, Jake is a renaissance man doing his best to maintain that maverick spirit (once coined larrikin) which is sorely missed in contemporary Australia.

Frida’s Sip N’ Paint is a fantastic excuse to round up the girls, don your most sophisticated garb and enjoy a catch-up with a side of flair. Indulge your inner artist at a range of holiday sessions for friends and family. Paint Blossom Botanicals on 8 April from 6.30pm to 9pm, Spritz Up Your Life on 9 April from 6.30pm to 9pm or explore Kahlo’s World on 14 April from 6.30pm to 9pm. Over Easter, have a Family Day Out at Frida’s painting Freddy the Fox on 9 April from 10am to 12pm or Pippa the Polar Bear on 13 April from 10am to 12pm.

HOT TIPS FOR HOLIDAYS

  • Book in early for dining experiences, performances and events. Tourists and locals alike will snatch up tickets before you even know they were on sale!
  • Pack a picnic before a daytrip or snag some takeaway during. Noosa is scattered with stunning picnic spots like Gympie Terrace, Noosa Botanic Gardens and Lake Weyba – you might just get the urge to throw down a rug.
  • Parking can equal pain in Noosa. Instead of travelling into Noosa Heads, park the car at Noosa Junction Station, Noosa AFL Grounds and Tewantin CBD and hop on a free bus with Go Noosa’s Park & Ride service! Skip the car queues and ride the FREE 065 Go Noosa Loop Bus. Go Noosa’s holiday service runs until 18 April, travelling Hastings Street, Noosa Drive, Weyba Road and Noosa Parade.
  • During the Easter holidays, the Noosa Heads Lions Park will also be open for paid parking from 8.30am to 5.30pm.
