Dr Clair McCartney remembers the spark that came from a mother’s vision to a movement.
“Sanctum was founded by my Mum, Dr Asha Ram in 2011,” she says. “She is a GP and pioneered laser and sclerotherapy clinics in Tasmania. But she envisioned something more – a space that was peaceful, holistic and sophisticated; a place that felt like a sanctuary.”

Dr McCartney, a general practitioner with extensive aesthetic and laser training, leads a highly educated team that includes co-owner and senior clinician Bonnie Paine, a registered nurse with a background in acute hospital care and a creative passion for skin health. Both women are driven by the same desire to help patients feel better in their skin, in every sense.
“I loved working in hospital settings,” Bonnie says. “But I needed something that combined creativity with care. Sanctum gave me that and more.”

“We don’t offer anything unless there’s strong evidence and proven safety,” Dr McCartney affirms. “We’ve said no to a lot of ‘viral’ treatments because the clinical trials weren’t there. And we’re proud of that.”
