Pantry Perfection with Queensland’s Sunshine Pantry
The doors to Queensland’s Sunshine Pantry were thrown open to showcase the region’s flavours to Tourism and Events executives and leaders. Deb Caruso took a peek inside the pantry to see what was on offer.
A bit of rain did not dampen the enthusiasm and passion of Queensland’s Sunshine Pantry producers who brought the sunshine and fresh flavours to Australia Zoo’s Ironbark Paddock to impress Executives of Tourism Australia and Tourism and Events Queensland. Coordinated by Visit Sunshine Coast and Food and Agribusiness Network (FAN), the event showcased the region’s delicious depth of flavours, creativity and commitment to sustainability.
From chocolate to condiments, honey and jams, mushrooms and meats; therapeutic tea, delicious dairy and global award-wining rum and gin, the event offered the chance for tourism executives to hear the stories of local producers and more importantly, to taste the delicious treats from the region.
Visit Sunshine Coast CEO Matt Stoeckel said the Sunshine Coast was cementing its reputation as a leading food, drink and agritourism destination.
“There’s 19 of our amazing 900 producers showing their produce to the TEQ Board and Directors.” he said. “We hope that they leave with a renewed understanding of why we’re a premier food, drink and agricultural destination.”
Tourism and Events Queensland CEO Patricia O’Callaghan said the Sunshine Coast was an exceptionally delicious place to be.
“This is a place that’s punching well above its weight,” she said. “Well done everyone!”
