A bold merger is reshaping the local legal landscape, blending heart, expertise, and a passion for community. John Caruso discovers a firm where property deals are about more than paperwork. They’re about people.

When you walk into Coast to Coast Conveyancing, you sense an energy in the air. It’s the buzz of something new, but also the comfort of experience, a rare blend in the world of property law. That’s no accident.

The recent merger with Young & Co Law isn’t just a business move; it’s a meeting of minds, values, and a shared vision for what conveyancing should be.

For Coast to Coast’s owner Anthony Murdoch, the merger is about more than growth.

“The expansion is going to be unstoppable,” he says, his confidence grounded in years of industry experience.

“Cassandra Young founded Young & Co Law herself and developed it into a commercial law firm, but mainly property. We stumbled across each other in opposing positions, but quickly realised we had a lot in common, from real estate agents to referrers.

“Before we knew it, we were talking about a merger.”

Anthony’s not shy about what makes this new chapter different.

“We have local knowledge and importantly, interstate knowledge,” he said. “That may sound like two separate things, but they interact. Our people live locally so they know the nuances about properties and local laws, especially Noosa council rules and short stays.

“We also have offices in Melbourne, so if people are moving up from Victoria, which is very common, we’re ready for them. That’s invaluable.”

The real strength of the merger comes from the people at its heart.

“Jess and Cass are both mums with young kids,” Anthony says. “They’re of a similar mind. They understand that family life is sometimes more important than the money, and that’s another personal side of the business. They’re inspiring each other, snowballing ideas about how to grow the brand.”

Jessika Avenell, senior conveyancer at Coast to Coast echoes this sentiment.

“It’s just nice having that supportive environment and the opportunity to continue to do well and help others,” she said.

As Principal of Young & Co Law, Cassandra brings legal expertise and a warmth and drive that’s evident.

“Nothing is more rewarding to me than making clients feel supported throughout such an important and life-changing process and making it an enjoyable, positive, customised and memorable experience for them,” Cass says.

Her background in property, commercial and estate law means the team can tackle just about anything, whether it’s a straightforward sale or something much more complex.

Anthony is quick to point out that conveyancing isn’t just for first-home buyers or investors.

“Properties are sold when there are divorces, separations, deaths in the family,” he says. “It doesn’t matter what curveball may arise, we can usually handle it in-house, quickly and often without the client even realising there were any potential issues.”

This holistic approach is made possible by the merger bringing together family law, commercial law, and estate planning under one roof so that clients don’t have to shop around for help.
For all three, relationships are everything.

“We’re much less transactional than many conveyancing firms,” Anthony says. “It’s more about the individual than just getting the transaction done.”

Jess agrees saying that the main goal was to bring joy to the process.

“We have a passion for people and for making the experience more enjoyable,” she said.

The team’s strong connections with local real estate agents are another big part of their success.

“Agents aren’t lawyers, but they often have to deal with legal questions in their day-to-day work,” Anthony says.

“We’ve built strong relationships with agents, and that’s why they trust us and keep sending clients our way-they know we’ll take good care of them.”

Both Jess and Cass are deeply involved in the community, from supporting Inclusive Kids and Waves of Kindness, to Cass’s work with the Noosa Tigers AFL.

“With Cass coming on board, we’ll have a lot more capacity,” Jess says.

“We want to become a conveyancing company that everyone has heard of. And with more business comes more tools to invest back into the community.”

Cass sums it up best: “We all believe in over-servicing our clients rather than overcharging,” she says.

“We aim to provide clients with more than just a transaction. We want to know them, support them, and be part of their journey.”

Property deals often feel cold and transactional, Coast to Coast Conveyancing’s new chapter is a refreshing reminder that, at its best, this business is about people, community, and making life’s biggest moments a little bit easier-and a lot more joyful.
