Purposeful, Passionate, Playful at Alsahwa Estate
Beyond ēthos and the gardens, Nicole May discovers curated celebration spaces for intimate experiences seasoned with purposeful, planet-loving connection.
Alsahwa Estate is a destination shaped by intention – a place where thoughtful design, meaningful connection, and a deep respect for the land create an experience unlike any other – with three guiding principles – Mind, Body, Planet.
The 30-acre site houses gardens, lawns, hives producing the purest honey, a biodynamic, regenerative farm which provides spray-free food for the onsite restaurant, ēthos – and space for celebration, connection and conversation.
This is a place that has been designed for people to be present, whether they are here for a wander, workshop, wedding, corporate experiences, dining or a moment of forest bathing, exploring the stunning grounds. For couples looking for an intimate, refined, and deeply meaningful place for their special day, Alsahwa Estate has launched Piccolo Weddings which General Manager Michelle Clark says are designed to be small in size, yet rich in intention.
“For couples looking to skip the overwhelm of planning a large-scale wedding, we offer something more personal and focused on connection, beauty, and experience to allow couples to celebrate in a way that feels both private and luxurious, with those who matter most,” she said.
Michelle points toward the ceremonial lawn framed by natural greenery that is known as the Tunnel of Love.
“It’s a picturesque, intimate and serene space for couples to exchange their vows and sets the scene,” she said.
This need to slow down and plan for the future in a meaningful place is also becoming a necessity for the corporate world too, where the always-on culture has left teams fractured.
“Within our Corporate Experiences, teams are experiencing so much more than just a change of scenery,” Michelle says. “It’s an invitation to slow down, be present, reconnect with nature, and appreciate the simple moments that often lead to our greatest ideas and strongest connections and conversations.
“Experiences such as beekeeping or farm tours, are great for team culture and can’t be replicated in a boardroom.”
Bringing it all together is ēthos, where meaningful Mediterranean-inspired dishes are shaped by the season, using spray-free ingredients harvested straight from the onsite kitchen gardens and local, sustainable producers. Awarded the Best New Restaurant, Sunshine Coast in the 2026 Hostplus Restaurant & Catering Awards for Excellence the spring menu will present the best of the season with asparagus and cherries leading the way as well as fresh mango and passionfruit, apple and parsnip, hazelnuts, watercress, and delicate herbs.
“Spring lamb will round it out,” Michelle says. “Tender, prime, and at its best this time of year.”
Confit Duck Maryland with asparagus, marinated cherries, apple and parsnip purée, toasted hazelnuts, baby watercress, and orange consommé will be a hit – as will a Mango and Passionfruit Mousse with coconut sorbet, tapioca pearls, and desiccated coconut. Bookings are already being taken for Christmas functions and plans for festive season events are well underway.
The school holiday program has also been released with hands-on experiences celebrating the bees, the garden, and the wildlife that lives at Alsahwa Estate.
“While parents enjoy a coffee under the trees or relax on the lawns, the children can search for koalas, meet the beekeepers, dig, plant and go home with new seedlings and an appreciation for growing your own food,” Michelle said.
Work has already begun on the food forest, a multi-layered garden ecosystem that will be self-sustaining and will work closely with the ēthos kitchen. Come October, there will be a free community event to plant the food forest and be part of what is growing at the Alsahwa farm.
For Alsahwa Estate founder Jo Walker, this is a key part of planning for the future and the long-term legacy that she is planting – literally.
“The food forest represents what Alsahwa Estate is about – growing beautiful food while caring for the land that nurtures it,” Jo says. “It’s the first phase of a much longer commitment to regenerative agriculture, and something we hope our guests will be able to see, experience on the plate at ēthos, and learn from as it grows.”
It’s just one more way Alsahwa Estate is giving back more than it takes.
