Skincare with Heart at Cosmedic Lab
For the newest member of the Cosmedic Lab team, skincare and beauty come as naturally as the Noosaville breeze. Melanie Rosettenstein finds out more.
Judging by her radiant smile and warm, effervescent presence, it’s clear Masyn Dwyer has found her calling. The 27-year-old Noosa local, who has six years of nursing experience, is now living her dream as a cosmetic nurse and skincare specialist at Noosaville’s Cosmedic Lab.
Masyn’s passion for skincare was sparked early, thanks to her mum’s influence.
“I’ve been into skincare and beauty most of my life because my mum was quite into it,” she shared.
“Growing up around that, it just became a natural part of who I am.”
Her lifelong dedication to skincare shows in her glowing complexion.
“People often comment on my skin, and I always say it’s from consistent treatments and good skincare,” she smiled.
Determined to pursue a career in beauty, Masyn first built a solid foundation of clinical expertise by training as a nurse. She started university at just 17, earned her nursing degree by 19, and went on to gain experience in aged care and medical-surgical wards.
Her most transformative years, however, came during her time as a fly-in-fly-out (FIFO) nurse, providing care to rural and Aboriginal communities across Australia.
“It was incredibly rewarding and eye-opening,” Masyn reflects. “I worked in places like Tamworth, Grafton, and the Northern Territory, often travelling hours inland to provide care.”
“It gave me a deeper appreciation for the need in these areas and taught me so much more than I could have learned in a typical hospital setting.”
After six years of nursing, Masyn turned her focus to her first love – cosmetic nursing – and joined the Cosmedic Lab team in August.
With her extensive experience and genuine empathy, she has quickly made her mark.
“I tailor my approach to each person’s skin while being mindful of the cost of living,” she explained.
“Many clients want to improve their skin but worry about the expense.
“I create personalised treatment plans that span a year, so clients can plan and look forward to their skincare journey in an achievable way.”
Masyn specializes in a wide range of treatments, including filler, anti-wrinkle injections, skin resurfacing, chemical peels, IPL and skin tightening. She is also training to offer Hydrafacial treatments, demonstrating her commitment to ongoing professional development.
“I love seeing my clients’ confidence grow,” she says. “Building a client base can be challenging at first, but having lived here most of my life, I already know many people, which helps.”
Masyn describes her work as uplifting, contrasting it with the high-pressure environment of hospital nursing.
“Cosmetic nursing is so different; it’s less stressful and more focused on positive transformations,” she shares.
“Cosmedic Lab is like a second family to me. It’s such a breath of fresh air, and I genuinely enjoy coming to work.”
With Masyn, clients can expect a warm welcome and plenty of chats.
“I’m very outgoing and love making people feel comfortable,” she says.
“Initial appointments are about understanding a client’s skin concerns and creating a plan to address them. My clients often say they feel supported, which is exactly what I aim for.”
Listening is a cornerstone of Masyn’s practice. “I prioritise understanding my clients’ concerns and creating a safe space where they feel heard,” she explains. “Empathy and communication are essential in this line of work.”
One of her favourite success stories involves a client in her 60s who struggled with significant skin texture issues due to years of sun exposure.
“She’s now on her third treatment, and the results have been amazing,” Masyn beamed. “After every session, she texts me saying how happy she is. Seeing her confidence grow has been rewarding.”
Sun damage, Masyn notes, is one of the most common concerns she sees.
“Generational habits play a big role, and many clients come in with pigmentation, fine lines, and texture issues from sun exposure,” she said.
“I always emphasize the importance of SPF and create tailored plans using treatments like resurfacing, peels, and good skincare products.”
When she’s not helping clients achieve glowing skin, Masyn is out enjoying everything Noosa has to offer.
“The safety, the sense of community – it’s a place like no other,” she said. “I’ve travelled a lot, but Noosa is where I want to raise my future kids. It’s such a beautiful, supportive place, and I feel so lucky to live and work here.”
And we feel lucky to have you, Masyn!
