Soul of the City with Sol by Walker

Four homes. Two levels. One address that changes the definition of luxury. Words by John Caruso.

The Maroochydore City Centre is an ambitious piece of urban planning, a 53-hectare greenfield development representing a multi-billion dollar investment by Walker Corporation in the future of the Sunshine Coast. Delivered by Walker in partnership with Sunshine Coast Council, the precinct is transforming Maroochydore into a connected commercial, residential and lifestyle destination, supported by significant state and federal infrastructure investment in the lead-up to the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

SOL by Walker is at the heart of it – two world-class towers in an emerging City Centre in one of the country’s fastest growing regions. Residents of SOL have it all on their doorstep – fine dining, casual eats, cocktails or coffee; retail, wellness or business. Walker’s 50 First Avenue sets a new standard for green offices and the Maroochydore Private Hospital is now open. Maroochy River and Maroochydore beach is a short stroll away; Ocean Street is a leisurely ten-minute walk through a city centre that is really starting to feel like one.

Beyond the amenity, SOL’s four coveted penthouses are the jewel in the crown. The Penthouse Collection offers a limited release of dual-level sky homes occupying the top two floors of the first tower. Just four residences, each spanning between 374 and 417 square metres across two levels. Private lift access. Wrap-around terraces. A plunge pool that is yours alone. Views that take in the Pacific Ocean, the Maroochy River, Point Cartwright and the hinterland in a single uninterrupted sweep. This is serious, head-in-the-clouds real estate!

Miriam Fanning and her team from Melbourne-based Mim Design brought a disciplined and inspired approach to the interiors to deliver a material palette of polished plaster, brushed metals, layered ceramics and natural timber – all inspired by the tones of the Sunshine Coast landscape.

In the kitchen, a 3.5-metre island bench anchors the space, backed by a concealed butler’s pantry and close to nine metres of joinery. The entry is marked by a glass-encased wine cellar, not an afterthought but a considered arrival. Bathrooms are defined by natural stone, handcrafted mosaic tiles, freestanding baths and custom vanities, creating the kind of space that feels like a genuine retreat.
The upper level of each penthouse works as either a master suite or an additional living area, opening directly to the wrap-around terrace and private plunge pool.

Beyond their front doors, penthouse buyers can access an elevated adults-only pool and private function area; The Sanctuary on Level 4 with cabanas surrounding a 20-metre lap pool, spa, cold plunge, sauna, steam room, fully equipped gym, and outdoor yoga area; the Sunset Gardens overlook mountain ranges with mounded lawns and seating positioned to capture the late afternoon light that makes this stretch of coast particularly stunning.

A dedicated BBQ area invites social gatherings, the entry foyer resembles an upmarket hotel, the ground floor will be buzzing with boutiques and places to eat – this is an answer to how people want to live!
Construction of the first tower is well underway with a targeted completion date of late 2027, and the second tower not far behind. Both are around 90 per cent sold.

At last, the future is arriving – and it will be the soul of the city. Opportunities like this are rare and life’s too short for regrets. Book your private appointment today.
