What do you get when you combine hand-crafted spirits with artisanal loose-leaf tea and serve over ice? The perfect summer sip featuring unique flavours of the Sunshine Coast, as Rebecca Jamieson Dwyer discovers.

Move over, Aperol Spritz – there’s a new summer drink (or three) in town! As the mercury rises and long, lazy days by the pool beckon, we asked Certified Tea Master Kellie Marshall from Tea Shop and Michael Conrad from CAVU Distilling (creators of Sunshine & Sons white spirits and Australia’s first organic rum, Nil Desperandum) to create three unique iced-tea cocktails that’ll refresh your senses and put a spring in your step this season.

Whether you prefer the zesty Hinterland Punch, the rich Double Shot or the invigorating Red Hot, you’ll be supporting local producers and experiencing amazing home-grown flavours from our wonderful region with every sip.

Kellie says she loved the process of collaborating with another local business and putting a new spin on Tea Shop’s artisanally blended, organic teas.

“We’re over the moon about teaming up with the Sunshine & Sons and Nil Desperandum team! Collaborating to infuse our vibrant loose-leaf teas into not just one but two sensational gins and a rum has us positively buzzing with excitement,” she says

“This partnership is a blend of our passion for exquisite teas and their expertise in crafting remarkable spirits, resulting in a fusion that promises to tantalise taste buds and spark boundless joy in every sip!”

Try these tasty cocktails at home and to turn your gathering into a real tea party, we suggest pairing your iced-tea cocktails with savoury or sweet treats from another local legend, Fiona’s Fancies in Noosa Junction.

This iconic bakery creates handcrafted gourmet pastries, tarts, cupcakes, quiches and platters available for quick pickup, for all of the fun with none of the fuss (or cleaning up). Tea-licious! Love local!
