Tuesday Triumph at Noosa Civic
Melanie Rosettenstein discovers a fresh, ever-evolving hub full of surprises and calm amidst the chaos.
It was an emergency dash for new school shoes that led me to Noosa Civic Shopping Centre one random Tuesday.
While gathering information for this edition of IN Noosa Magazine, I received a panicked call from my 10- year-old son that went something like this:
Son: “Mum, I’m getting an award on parade tomorrow and I need new school shoes.”
Me: “That’s amazing! But what’s wrong with your old shoes – they’re only two months old?”
This is a familiar tale for most boy-mums out there. Held together with tape and resembling more of a walkie talkie than a shoe, I acquiesced that perhaps my sporty son did indeed need a new pair of shoes for his big day but as a Buderim local cruising around Noosa, where was I to go on such short notice?
I found the answer – and so much more at Noosa Civic Shopping Centre.
Pulling into the parking lot at 10am I was pleasantly surprised to easily find a carpark. The centre already had a good buzz but not too busy to feel overwhelming.
I decided to stay a while, grab a flat white from The Coffee Club, and review some of the other things on my to-do list before getting the shoes.
With caffeine in hand and sanity intact, I set off on my mission – and quickly realised Noosa Civic has levelled up since my last visit.
First stop – shoes. Between Athlete’s Foot, Spendless, Williams, Big W and Skechers (which I was delighted to see had newly opened), finding a solid pair of black school joggers was a breeze.
Crisis averted. Yay for Super Mum!
Feeling smug about my school shoe coup, I wandered further and discovered even more fresh faces. Lorna Jane and Suzanne Grae have joined the fashion fold, while Sussan and Cotton On have upped their game with fresh, spacious stores in upgraded digs.
I noticed Adairs has expanded with a larger showroom between Pillow Talk and Beacon Lighting – providing the perfect hub for adding warmth to our home for winter.
For a fitness wannabe like me, the lineup of health and fitness offerings were impressive. Stretch Lab (great for releasing deadline-tension), FS8, Base Training Co (formerly F45), Sharp Jiu-Jitsu and the outdoor gym space at Noosa Fit all bring a ‘choose your own adventure’ feel to staying active. Plus, just around the corner, Chloe Regan Cosmetics offers beauty treatments for those looking to indulge in some self-care. Noted for the next trip with my son and daughter.
I lingered at the pop-up community library inside the centre, browsing some pre-loved novels before strolling back to my starting point, picking up a few winter wardrobe staples for home, husband and kids on the way.
Little ones danced and giggled through the free Tuesday Kids Session and I wonder whether my own rascally cherub would’ve loved it (even though he’s 10) – probably moreso because it’s conveniently located right next to the food court and it’s all about the snacks these days.
That’s what I love about Noosa Civic. It’s not just a shopping centre, it’s a local hub where independent retailers like Priests Jewellers, Bikini Hut, Noosa Health Store and Paperboxx feel right at home alongside bigger names like Woolworths and Big W.
Reflecting those laidback Noosa vibes we all love, Noosa Civic is just too easy!
From emergency errands to new discoveries, my morning at Noosa Civic turned into a reset and restock.
And the best part? I made it back to Buderim with school shoes, a takeaway, a few mental notes for work, and a renewed appreciation for this thriving little centre.
Because sometimes, the best things happen when you least expect it.
