Valley of Vitality with Living Valley

Amidst the lush Kin Kin hinterland, Nicole May visits Living Valley to discover how 35 years of practitioner-led wisdom is empowering guests to transcend surface-level wellness and embark on a deeply supported journey back to health.

How does one generation truly honour the foundations of the last? We do so with vision, purpose and values, and for Giselle Martin, the custodian and heart of Living Valley, these grounds are more than a workplace; they are home.

Moving to the property at age ten, when it was a run-down bean farm, Giselle remembers the log-cabin beginnings, when her family of five lived within four walls, and she would climb a ladder to her loft bedroom each night. Her father, Gary Martin, was a high-flying Sydney accountant who traded the corporate grind for a vision of healing the ‘sick, suffering, or in distress’. He became a naturopath and established the retreat in 1990, building a foundation of deep detoxification treatments.

Today, Giselle has advanced that legacy toward a more considered, supportive, and outcome-focused experience that is practitioner-led and personalised to deliver a wellness sanctuary which reflects the modern day needs.

“Dad would always say, ‘we are like the Sherlock Holmes of your body’,” Giselle reflects. “We investigate the cause of illness and then put the right conditions in place, so the body can heal itself because we are designed to win.”

This diagnostic curiosity remains at the core of the Living Valley experience, and there is a choice of outcome-focused retreats, from the signature Power Cleanse to shorter wellness stays and day experiences. And while there is a menu of programs to choose from, the Living Valley team of professional practitioners ensure that each guest receives a tailored wellness plan specific to their needs.

As part of the signature Power Cleanse, each guest begins their journey with a deep dive into personal history through a naturopathic consultation that assesses everything from live blood cell analysis to dental history, recognising the profound link between oral health and systemic disease. The overall focus is on providing the space, guidance and support needed to reset both body and mind.

These diagnostic findings form the foundation of a holistic approach that flows through every facet of the retreat. From the kitchen, where naturopaths collaborate with the head chef to tailor the menu to a guest’s specific needs, to the Freedom Fitness Centre, where personal trainers align movement with individual health goals, the care is entirely interconnected.

As the team works together to investigate the root cause of illness, Giselle notes that “each of our practitioners connect to ensure a truly unified and supported health experience.”
This commitment is mirrored in the retreat’s physical environment. To elevate the aesthetic to match the depth of the treatments, the transformation of Living Valley have continued since 2020.
The heritage charm has since been enhanced with a clean, warm and contemporary palette, thoughtfully designed by Giselle to deliver a sense of calm and a place where every guest feels seen, heard, and grounded.

In this overhaul, Giselle’s original log cabin was renovated and extended to create Waterlily Day Spa – a sanctuary with eight treatment rooms delivering the latest therapies. Furthering this physical reset, the Peaceful Pilates Studio offers a heavenly range of classes from stretch and flow exercises to sound healing sessions for profound relaxation, and the nearby Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) Chamber delivers nearly pure oxygen in a pressurised environment to accelerate the body’s natural healing processes.

The Grander Fresh Water Lap Pool uses rods attuned to the rhythms of the moon and sun to create vibrational frequencies, producing water that is naturally rejuvenating and healing, reminiscent of swimming in a freshwater creek.

“The same system is used for the plunge pool to deliver extra purity and vitality,” Giselle explains. “And the Serenity Sundeck encourages guests to soak up Vitamin D – an essential component for bone strength and immunity.”

Nutrition, of course, is the fuel for this transformation. Under the guidance of Head Chef Rowan Conboy, guests are nourished with organic, locally-sourced produce, fermented foods, and homemade bone broths.

During deeper detox phases, the menu shifts to nutrient-dense green smoothies and juices, allowing the release of heavy metals and toxicity. This commitment to health begins the moment guests arrive. Positioned near the entrance of the property is the Harmony Health Centre—the home to Naturopaths and access to other specialists, including a psychologist, hypnotherapist and registered nurse. It also houses the Health Shop, containing the Living Valley range of superfoods, organic beauty items and practitioner-prescribed products alongside a thoughtfully curated range of wellness items and inspiring books.

The Living Valley range was specially created to support cleansing, healing and detoxification, and has been trusted by thousands of guests since 1990. Ultimately, the retreat’s enduring impact rests on Giselle’s deep conviction that there is a powerful link between the mind and our physical wellbeing.

At Living Valley, guests are never treated as mere numbers in a program; they are individuals being tenderly nurtured back to their original design. Whether seeking a deep physiological reset, a mental revive, or a sophisticated day spa experience, the retreat restores health through intentional, natural healing. Reflecting on the impact of this approach is Maurita, a recent guest who experienced the signature Power Cleanse in February 2026: “Living Valley has evolved into something that rivals the very best wellness destinations in the world, yet it has retained its heart and authenticity,” she said.

Across the 145 acres of lush Noosa Hinterland, with bush walks throughout, the property serves as a sanctuary where the Eight Laws of Health govern every treatment and every breath.
