An Innovative Oasis: Acres Noosa

Helen Flanagan discovers an innovative oasis full of wellness and gift solutions; lifestyle ideas indoors and out; delicious food; sensory know-how; even time to smell the roses.

From a lone garden centre, Acres Noosa has blossomed into an awe-inspiring, impressively slick collective thanks to the vision of Ralph Rogers and local businesses who have transformed the Gibson Road space into a must-do destination.

Front and centre is Acres Garden Centre with knowledgeable owners Taier and Matt refreshing gardens and green zones with annuals, potted colour especially lavender, edibles such as vegetables and herbs, popular Australian natives, as well as indoor plants and pots to brighten balconies and courtyards. The Garden Centre also offers gift ideas galore including indoor plants, orchids, cut flowers and gardening books.

When it comes to designing and retailing beautiful furniture plus exquisite homewares to complement our sub-tropical climate and lifestyle, The Alfresco Room has it covered.  Owner Brett says a range of furniture has been designed and made to match client’s needs, local artworks and artisans are well represented and homewares specifically chosen to give interiors an unmistakable and authentic sense of luxe space. Stock is augmented from similarly talented artisans globally such as handwoven Berber rugs from the Atlas Mountains in Morocco; Australian-made candles; local ceramics; plus gifts, fashion and jewellery.

Jason and Alana Condon have poured their hearts and souls into Daydream Leisure Furniture trading for the past 23 years with their second impressive showroom opening at Acres Nosoa four years ago. Catering to the domestic and commercial markets, they are direct importers for the popular Italian range of Nardi furniture as well as an impressive range of sun lounges, umbrellas, outdoor dining settings, daybeds and sofas.

“There’s a lot more involved than meets the eye, from designing our styles to finding high quality, cost effective materials,” Alana said. “Mix and match options are also key to ensuring you receive exactly what you’re looking for. Choose a table, chair, colour, size, swap it around – anything that brings your daydreams to life.”

Shoppers need fuel and so Emma and Matthew Greenland’s Forest Café beckons. First Batch Coffee and brilliant breakfasts, brunches and lunches with eggs benedict, toasties, steak sandwiches, innovative salads and if you have memories of the quintessential English pub, you better hotfoot it there soon for Cornish pasties, a ploughman’s plate, Eccles cakes, Bakewell tarts and outstandingly popular pork pies. Enjoy in the leafy courtyard complete with foot spa for hot summer days. An extended menu with a liquor licence is on its way.

Daphne Walsh is so passionate about skin she opened the Noosa Skin Studio, focused on delivering the complete client experience with a clinical blend of advanced treatment techniques and traditional beauty pampering. She is dedicated to creating healthy, glowing skin, ensuring all treatments are customised to support individual needs for progressive long-term results, by using the highest grade skin care formulations based on scientific research, also combining therapeutic and correctional treatments. Daphne also offers traditional beauty services such as massage, waxing, brow and lash tinting.

At ReMindEd Mind Health Clinic, husband and wife team Grant and Sally Harvey offer a holistic approach to clinical mental health and wellness therapy.

“We seek truth,” says Sally. “We help to renew minds and remind people how they free from past hurts that have held them in fear, free from unhelpful patterns of behaviour, and free from limiting beliefs. We specialise in breaking suicidality, restoration of relationships, healing past trauma, and releasing pain held in the body, mind, emotions and spirit, rewriting unhelpful beliefs and subconscious protective mechanisms, recovery from addiction and mental illness, walking through grief and loss, emotional and behavioural regulation in children and young people, plus identity reformation.”

What does Zenko mean? Owner Lauren Verona explains Zen is a contemplative still mind, pinnacle of achievement, inner peace, Ko is Japanese for child, so Zenko is achieving a child-like contemplative state of mind. That is what yoga is all about.

With that in mind she designed Zenko to be more a healing sanctuary than a fitness space. The minute you set foot in the door, it’s obvious. She offers a range of therapies for clients to complement their practise and growth as they enter the yoga journey.

Whether it’s something for the home or your health, the fabulous Acres Noosa has it all.
