Balance, Calm and Connection

The multi-award winning Ikatan Balinese Day Spa is a sensory overload. Carlie Wacker discovers why the awards keep coming in for this tropical oasis.

The moment you step into the tranquil gardens that envelope the treatment villas at ikatan Balinese Day Spa you feel relaxed. Its like a weight lifts from your shoulders and you can breathe in the calm.

Such beauty and stillness exists in this space. It’s not just the tropical setting and the gift of true relaxation – it’s the people that make this experience so coveted.

ikatan Spa started with a marriage and business proposal (even its beginnings are romantic). Katrina and Nicholas said ‘yes’ to both offers and were married in Bali. In 2002, the spa was born and has been delivering truly beautiful experiences to clients ever since.

Their heartfelt connection to Indonesia is the inspiration for the ikatan Spa experience and you feel the instant connection. In fact, in Indonesian ‘ikatan’ means ‘connection’. In Balinese ‘ikat’ means to make by hand while the full word ‘ikatan’ means handmade sarong. So, the name fits the experience and the experience is delightful.

Serenity is found in the tropical gardens or Guest Lounge as part of the opening ritual to calm the body and mind. There is an overwhelming feeling of being cared for and connected – its like being in a bubble of love and wellness. Post-treatment, return to the relaxation area to enhace the experience with a herbal tea or cheeky glass of bubbles.

ikatan is peacefully quiet (apart from the delightful chirps of native birds and the wind through palm fronds). It is also deliciously fragrant with the aroma of essential oils and scents from the stunning landscaped surrounds. Every treatment is specially-designed by Katrina and tailored to the individual using ikatan’s own suite of Balinese-inspired products using organic and natural Australia herbs and spices.

The expertly-trained staff make every moment magical. ikatan Spa is a little Bali-style paradise in Noosa and a globally-awarded destination. Stay for an hour or, better yet, book a Day Retreat; solo or with someone special. This is a place that you will never want to leave.

Calm, balance and long-lasting wellness is what we all want and this is the focus at ikatan Spa.

“I watch what is happening in the world, what is creating stress for people and how I can create and change our treatments to cater to the current level of society’s needs,” says owner Katrina.

She not only develops treatments and trains her staff to address mental, emotional and physical stress, but also fosters a love for ‘green therapy’.

“Being surrounded by nature and caring for the environment has always been a driving force for us and helped us win a global award for Best Eco Spa in Australia,” says Katrina.

The accolades don’t stop there – this breathtaking spa experience was awarded the Best Boutique Day Spa in Australia 2019 /2020 in the Tourism Queensland ‘Best Of Queensland Experience’ after scoring a whopping 97/100 for social media and reviews. Plus, the Haute Grandeur Global Hotel and Spa Award 2018/19 – winner of Best Spa, Best Boutique Spa, Best Eco Spa and Best Signature treatments in Australia! They are also recognised as Australian Luxury Spa of The Year 2019 at the Luxury Life Global Hotel and Spa Awards.

It’s no wonder! ikatan Spa provides luxury and blissful escapism with passion in everything they do.
