The Noosa Biosphere Gala & Awards celebrated local sustainability champions and launched the Grow for Noosa initiative to support a strong food future for the region.

More than 150 guests chose to celebrate the local environment and community over the Melbourne Cup on Tuesday 1 November, at the Noosa Biosphere Reserve Foundation’s annual Noosa Biosphere Gala & Awards where the theme for 2022 was Grow for Noosa.

The event acknowledges the International Day for Biosphere Reserves (3 Nov) of which Noosa has held status since 2007.

Guests were treated to an eco-inspired fashion show, featuring Sunshine Coast TAFE students repurposed fashions, and bold creative garments by former Sunshine Beach State High student now Avante Garde designer Teddy McRitchie Design.

The Noosa Biosphere Reserve Foundation launched its Grow for Noosa Fund at the event, to raise seed-funding for new initiatives to support a strong food future in the region.

Local sustainability champions were recognised as part of the event’s Awards ceremony.

MATT GOLINSKI ANDY WILCOX

A FOND FAREWELL

The Noosa Biosphere Gala & Awards marked the final service for Matt Golinski at View Restaurant, Peppers Noosa Resort & Villas. After almost five years as Consultant Chef, Matt has left to spend more time with his partner Erin and their two daughters Aluna and Tillie.

Matt said his time at View Restaurant had been great and he loved working with Head Chef Andrew Wilcox and the entire crew to develop dishes with a focus on local producers.

“I have no doubt that View Restaurant will continue to dish up local flavours and that Andy and the team will continue being Slow Food champions,” he said.

A third-generation Noosa local, Andy said he had loved working with Matt and creating a menu that features a mouth-watering array of highly creative dishes, made from local ingredients sourced from across the Sunshine Coast.

“It’s been great working with Matt and sharing his passion and creativity for dishes that are all about celebrating our vibrant produce.”

View Restaurant’s summer menu is sure to delight with fresh flavours to please any palate.
