Delicious Dina at Chinadina
The new winter menu has arrived at Noosa’s most cosy, colourful and authentic Asian Fusion restaurant! Rebecca Jamieson Dwyer warms up with wonderful dishes for winter.
I used to live in Vietnam and love eating Asian food year-round, but there’s something particularly pleasing about warming up with a delicious curry, stir fry or soup in the winter months – especially from somewhere as fantastic as Chinadina, where the interior styling, menu and service have all been curated to perfection.
This season, we’re in for a treat with the newly-launched winter menu, which features all the usual Asian Fusion favourites plus an abundance of new seafood dishes, by popular demand from customers.
Head Chef Henry Alvarez grew up in the Philippines, and owner Michael White says Henry often takes inspiration from his homeland when it comes to crafting new additions to the menu.
“One new dish we’re excited about is the Sizzling Jumbo Scallops in XO Sauce – a much-loved dish in the Philippines,” Michael said.
“Diners are sure to be impressed by the huge succulent scallops sitting atop tangy vegetables drenched in rich XO sauce on a sizzling plate, and garnished with asparagus. It’s seriously delicious!”
Another firm favourite is the decadent Steamed or Fried Moreton Bay Bugs, which come either with a vibrant chilli sauce or a punchy garlic sauce, depending on which flavour sensation you’re in the mood for.
“This dish was initially a special for both Easter and Mother’s Day, but our customers loved it so much they’ve been asking for us to make it a regular occurrence,” Michael said.
“The Sunshine Coast and Noosa have the most incredible seafood, and we enjoy being able to showcase this in the restaurant and see our customers responding favourably.”
When it comes to seafood, you can’t go past a whole fish – and Chinadina’s Whole Baby Sweet-and-Sour Barramundi is as visually impressive as it is delicious. The entire deboned fish is served resplendent on a plate with veggies and sweet-and-sour sauce and is garnished with tangy pineapple, promising to be a dish to remember.
The winter menu also features all your favourite Dim Sum, including Steamed Prawn Hargow Dumplings, Pan-fried Pork Gyoza and Steamed Bao Buns, while lovers of curries, stir-fries and soups will be blown away by the amazing options created with fire, flavour and a whole lot of passion.
Many dishes have been designed for sharing with friends, and there’s even a gluten-free menu for our coeliac buddies, something our Editor-in-Chief Deb is thrilled about!
Cosy winter dinners incorporating spicy, tangy flavours are just crying out to be enjoyed with a cocktail, and Chinadina’s delicious libation options certainly do not disappoint. I can’t go past the fragrant Chinadina Sour, made with Lychee Vodka, Lemongrass, AquaFaba and Yuzu. Another must-try is the punchy Szechuarita, which is Chinadina’s take on the classic margarita, made with tequila, chilli marmalade and lime. Yum!
Plus there’s an impressive selection of local and international beers and wines and tasty mocktails, ensuring the thirst levels of every diner are taken care of.
If you’ve never tried Chinadina’s all-you-can-eat lunchtime Yumcha, get it on your winter bucket list immediately. For just $49pp (or $75pp with bottomless drinks), you can feast on the likes of Dumplings, Prawn Toast, Spring Rolls, Pork Siu Mai, Honey Chicken, Special Fried Rice, Crab Spring Rolls, Salt and Pepper Tofu, and lots more Dina deliciousness! It’s the ultimate lunchtime treat, whatever the season.
With experienced Operations Manager Chan Choriatis and Owner Michael leading a passionate team, Chinadina is going from strength to strength – making it a must-visit for food-lovers from Noosa and beyond this season.
“Our beautiful interior with its warm lighting and cosy ambience is perfect for the evening, while our outdoor terrace is a great place to enjoy lunch in the winter sunshine,” Michael said. “We look forward to welcoming the community to experience the Chinadina magic.”
