Tony Cox discovers even more reasons for a staycation at Netanya Noosa with the pairing of iconic brands for the ultimate in guest experiences.

When it comes to Noosa Heads’ beachfront buildings, arguably none is more iconic than Netanya Noosa, situated on Hastings Street at the far eastern end of Noosa’s Main Beach.

When it comes to Australian wine, no brand is more iconic than Penfolds.

Exclusively for in-house guests at Netanya these two icons have collaborated to present a selection of prestigious Penfolds wines to sip and savour whilst looking out at Noosa’s iconic point breaks from your balcony.

Included in the range, exclusive to in-house guests, is Penfolds Cellar Reserve Wines and another iconic collaboration, the Champagne Thiénot x Penfolds Brut Rosé.

The Penfolds Cellar Reserve range draws fruit from exclusive fruit sources and is only made when the parcel of fruit is deemed to be a high enough quality to warrant releasing under the label.

First up for your festive seafood and charcuterie is the Champagne Thiénot x Penfolds Brut Rosé NV. Featuring all three varietals, chardonnay, pinot noir and pinot meunier the pale salmon colour providing fantastic visual appeal.

Each varietal is clearly evident on the nose, with red fruits identifying the presence of pinot noir, citrus showcasing chardonnay and lifted violets disclosing pinot meunier.

A palate of red fruits and citrus fruits are to the fore with an impeccable balance. With both pinot varieties being dominant in the blend there is a generosity to the wine with the chardonnay being the thread that provides freshness and delivers balance to finish – another glass? If I must!

The Australian-based wines have access to fruit from the crème de la crème of Australia’s wine regions and riesling from Eden Valley is one of Australia’s truly great drinks – Penfold’s Bin 51 is no exception. Lime flavours abound with floral notes and completed by trademark Eden Valley ‘soft’ acidity.

Maybe some Coffin Bay oysters or Mooloolaba prawns on the balcony, a quick dip in the pristine waters of Laguna Bay before dinner on Hastings Street?

The Cellar Reserve Chardonnay has an embarrassment of possible fruit sources for the winemakers to craft an exemplary wine – Tasmania, Tumbarumba, Adelaide Hills all provide stunning fruit winemakers would dream of making wine from.

Tasmania combines powerful fruit with pristine acid line; Tumbarumba delivers a precise wine with altitude-derived acidity and slightly leaner style – absolutely delicious; and Adelaide Hills produces a fuller style in comparison.

Whatever the fruit source for the respective vintage you can be assured the team has produced an outstanding wine.

With warmer growing seasons the quest for quality pinot noir has seen the 2022 sourced from Tasmania, a combination of Tamar Valley fruit in the north and Coal River Valley fruit in the south. Red fruits combine with savoury notes to produce a seamless wine framed by silky tannins. Ideal for some lamb cutlets on the bbq and salad.

Don’t forget to put your reds in the fridge door an hour or so before you start drinking them as ambient temperature is high 20s low 30s so pour a small quantity and top up frequently to keep your wine at a suitable temperature.

To conclude, Netanya is the iconic building where you can enjoy your next Noosa summer getaway. What better way to enjoy it than as a guest at Netanya savouring a selection of the finest Penfolds drops overlooking Noosa’s iconic north facing beach!

With Penfolds celebrating their 180th year in 2024 if staying at Netanya make sure you seek out these wonderful wines.

And if you are enjoying a few drinks (and why not?!), the team at Netanya have paired up with Tesla Transfers Noosa to ensure that you can get where you need to go and back to the Resort life again with full peace of mind.

There’s even more reason to enjoy a staycation and holiday in style with all the trimmings at Netanya Noosa.

I’ll certainly drink to that!

Cheers!
