Flo’s Fantastique Lunch Menu at Flo’s Creperie

Elizabeth Monthe discovers that lunch just got a bit Francier at her favourite French restaurant.

Picture a sun-soaked, beautifully clad table filled with crêpes, galettes – and adding to these iconic flavours, a tempting line-up of classic bistro French dishes – lunch at Flo’s Crêperie has levelled up in delicious fashion.

I have always been fascinated with French culture, my Duolingo streak proves it, and food is one of the most accessible (and tasty) ways to engage with the culture of the country. For years, Flo’s has been the go-to for golden-edged crêpes, savoury galettes and a little Brittany-meets-Sunshine-Coast magic. Now, the French favourites that made their debut on the dinner menu are stepping into the daylight, adding a distinct flavour and flair to the much-loved lunch menu – très magnifique!

The move means there is even more reason to linger over lunch, whether you’re chasing a quick galette between errands or settling in for a full French feast with friends. Think steaming French Onion Soup, its rich beef broth brimming with caramelised onions and crowned with crusty, cheese-topped bread. It’s a dish that demands a spoonful before conversation can continue.

For something more substantial, the Boeuf Bourguignon delivers all the comforting drama of a French country kitchen. Slow-cooked beef, mushrooms and lardons are bathed in a deep red-wine sauce and served with gloriously creamy mash. One bite and it is easy to see why diners wanted this one added to the lunch menu.

After introducing traditional French dishes for dinner more than two years ago, co-founders Florian and Michelle Guillemard received plenty of requests to bring the favourites into the daytime line-up and to give the popular rotating midweek specials a more permanent place at the table.

“We wanted lunch to feel just as distinctly French as dinner, while still offering the relaxed, casual Flo’s experience,” Michelle says. “It always comes down to asking the customers about how we can improve, and the overwhelming feedback has been to add the option of having distinct Flo’s classics, as well as traditional French dishes, available during lunch.”

It is this open-door approach that has helped turn Flo’s into a Sunshine Coast dining favourite. The team knows what its diners love, and the expanded menu gives regulars more ways to enjoy the flavours of France without taking away the dishes that made Flo’s famous in the first place.

Also joining the daytime offering is Toulouse Sausage and Paris Mash: the most satisfying classic pork sausage with velvety mash, baby cos lettuce and onion-mustard jus; and the popular Signature Steak Frites featuring Wagyu rump cooked to perfection with crisp French fries, salad and red-wine jus and the option to add Café de Paris Butter, Blue Cheese Sauce or the decadent Sauce au Poivre capturing the decadent juices from the pan – decisions, decisions!

At its best, French food is made for long lunches, shared plates and that blissful moment when one course rolls effortlessly into the next. Flo’s new offerings bring that spirit to the table, combining familiar French bistro favourites with the casual, cheerful energy locals have come to expect.

“We’ve evolved into somewhere you can come for much more than a crêpe, without losing what people originally loved about us,” Michelle says. “It’s still casual, welcoming and unmistakably Flo’s, but there’s now even more reason to visit. You can enjoy a proper French lunch or dinner, and be transported to another place entirely.”

And for devoted Francophiles, Moules Frites, Steak Tartare, Cheese Soufflé, Escargots and other French bistro classics remain on the menu and can now be enjoyed at lunch as well. Savoury galettes including the classic La Complète, Flo’s Alpine Cheese, Peking Duck and Apres Surf continue to share the menu alongside dedicated seafood and vegetarian options.

“Our savoury galettes still form a big part of the offer,” Michelle says. “The menu is simply being expanded, rather than completely reinvented.”

Of course, crêpes remain at the heart of the Flo’s experience and offer the sweetest decision of all: dessert. From the classic butter, sugar and lemon crêpe to signature creations and show-stopping flambéed crêpes, there is plenty of reason to save room for a final flourish.

So gather the family, book a long lunch or make dinner plans with a French flavour. At Flo’s, the crêpes and galettes are still the stars but now the classic bistro dishes are ready for their lunchtime encore. Flo’s expanded menu carries that deliciously Francey spirit into every part of the day in the most délicieux of ways!
