Global Hastings Street Newcomer – Mapogo
Mapogo is a fashion newcomer to our local retail experience and a different way to shop the world-famous labels. Global streetwear brands bring this little boutique at the Woods end of Hastings Street to life. It is wall-to-wall colour and cool as you step inside this premium global brand outlet. Carlie Wacker chats to Mel Kowalski about turning her holiday shopping hobby into Noosa’s newest fashion outlet.

How and when was your business born?
We only opened in August this year! When we would travel overseas, we would always seek out the outlet shops to find a great bargain. We thought ‘wouldn’t it be great to have an outlet shop in Noosa’ and give those overseas bargains to people on Hastings Street.
What do you love most about your business?
Working with my husband and helping other families get great brands at great prices. We sell American and European brands at more than 50% off retail. Brands include Nike, Adidas, Puma, CK, TH, AX, Geox, Gap and may others.
How would you describe Mapogo fashion?
Mapogo has you covered during the day and night with a range of bags, hats, designer sunglasses, dresses, t-shirts, polos, shorts and activewear for men and women. For lunch or dinner at one of Noosa’s amazing restaurants, we can help you find something special to wear.
How would you describe your customers?
A mix of locals and tourists that appreciate quality and love a sale!
What do you love most about working and living in Noosa?
Everyone is always in a good mood because they live in paradise!
What advice can you share with fashion start-ups and retailers?
We are just getting started so we are taking advice not giving it.
What can we expect to see/what are you loving this season?
I love dresses and now is the time to buy one for summer. Something that can be worn during the day or dress it up to go out at night.
