Keeping It Real With A Taste Of Noosa!

When Deb Caruso decided to create an IN Noosa event for Noosa Food & Wine, the brief was simple: a feast of the senses that screamed local – and any proceeds to go back to the community.

The sold-out event at Butter Factory Arts Centre (BFAC), Cooroy proved that there was a huge appetite for a sensory immersion of all things local! From the 100% local menu lovingly prepared by Matt Golinski to the hand-thrown dinnerware that it was served on; A Real Taste of Noosa lived up to its name.

Food, art, entertainment, dinnerware, craft beers and even artisan gin were easy to source locally (relatively). The most challenging part was finding a local wine so we went to the next best thing – wines created by a local lad who just happens to now be an award-winning winemaker in the Mornington Peninsula!

Sam Coverdale of Even Keel and Polperro Wines welcomed the chance to catch some Noosa waves and be part of the event – even bringing some exclusive releases with him!

From the moment they arrived at the historic Butter Factory, guests were treated to the first-ever taste of locally-distilled IN Noosa Wild Foraged Gin; Land & Sea craft beers; and 2018 Even Keel sparkling Pinot Noir Rosé that was exclusively bottled for the event!

To start them salivating, chef Matt Golinski served up Betel Leaf, Tempeh, Oyster Mushrooms, Macadamia Curd, Finger Lime and CC’s Chilli Sambal while guests took in the local artworks to the chilled tunes of local duo Soul Tree Union.

Once the doors to the revamped Butter Box were opened, guests were surprised by the stunning transformation of the space into an intimate and interactive venue featuring artworks by the BFAC team; live art drawing and pottery throwing.

More surprises were had when the entrée of Moreton Bay Bug, Fraser Island Spanner Crab, Pomelo, Cassava, Coconut and Basil was matched with an exclusive release 2018 Polperro Estate Chardonnay and served on stunning local pottery.

The main dish of Bendele Farm Spatchcock and Rhodavale Pork Belly, Borlotti Beans, Tomato, Eggplant and Zucchini matched with a 2017 Even Keel Pinot Noir had guests in heaven; and the dessert was out of this world with Baked Ricotta, Persimmon, Gooseberry, Buffalo Yoghurt Sorbet, Native Honey and Mint providing flavours never before experienced and perfectly matched with the newly-released 2018 Polperro Estate Pinot Gris.

The flavours and quality of the food and drinks; the performances of the musicians and artists; a venue that was perfectly styled by First Class Functions – everything was on point!

We’re sure that memories of the magical night will live on with every guest also receiving a limited edition IN Noosa jute bag with their own three-piece dinner setting; limited edition 200ml IN Noosa Wild Foraged Gin and more!

The best part is that any proceeds for the evening were donated to Butter Factory Arts Centre to continue to foster local artists through workshops, exhibition space, the gift shop and Artists’ Studio!
