Plates of Goodness

Generations of culinary traditions meet in Plates of Goodness, the new collaboration between Foundations of Goodness, Sri Lankan chefs and Noosa locals. At ALBA Noosa’s accompanying banquet, experience the cookbook’s plant-based recipes and win a holiday in Sri Lanka!

In the warm, welcoming homes of Sri Lanka, love is served on a plate. It’s a language spoken universally among the locals, and it comes to life in the spices, rices and green harvests of their homecooked cuisine.

Whether you belong to family, friends or passing travellers, Sri Lankans will always extend their heartfelt hospitality.

As you share steaming cups of Ceylon tea and curries infused with cinnamon, coriander and coconut, you’ll understand the simple joy of one person nourishing another – beyond that, there is no greater connection.

From the passionate, community-building efforts of Foundation of Goodness, Plates of Goodness tells the story of connection through generational tastes, smells and textures.

While you bring the flavours of Sri Lanka into your kitchen, funds raised from this cookbook will support the nation’s poverty-stricken communities.

Foundations of Goodness’s holistic rural development program bridges the rural-urban divide with ten empowerment divisions. These inspire and equip locals with the tools to pursue their vocations, whether they be in business, sports, the arts, education or welfare.

Inspired by Chef Dean Keddell’s award-winning charity cookbook Our Bali, Your Bali, Noosa locals including ALBA’s Executive Chef Peter Kuruvita and Sunday Press’s Jonette Wilton have collaborated with Gayan Pieris and Shehan Silva of Many Little Bar & Dining, Pavinda Wickramasinghe of Lucy Liu and Udeshika Suradasa of Colombo Foodies.

These renowned chefs from across Australia have poured their ancestral knowledge into a melting pot of traditional vegan recipes from villages in Sri Lanka.

Committed to connecting community, Christine Mount of Luxe Coastal Property Buyers worked behind the scenes to create these culinary collaborations.

Her passion comes from a thirteen-year stint in Singapore, where she raised $120,000 for community over a three-day event featuring cricket matches and a gala ball!

She also spent time in Sri Lanka volunteering with Foundations of Goodness, becoming a long-time supporter of the organisation.

Now Christine combines her love of conversation and connection with over 30 years of experience in property. She knows the home is the cornerstone of community – the place from which love flows outward.

On Thursday 13 July, Christine joins Peter Kuruvita in celebrating this familiar love at ALBA’s 5-Pot Curry Banquet, featuring plant-based recipes from Plates of Goodness!

Sit at the Sri Lankan table and experience centuries of traditional cuisine, from flatbread, chilli sambal and vegetable curries to desserts of tropical fruit sweetened with palm sugar.

As you connect with the community around your table, you’ll know what it means to experience goodness on a plate!
