Energy and resilience personified, a testament to the power of determination, hard work and vision, Tom Offermann is also a source of inspiration and motivation as Helen Flanagan discovers.

Ambition is the path to success, persistence is the vehicle you arrive in, and Tom Offermann, the man behind the nationally-known eponymous real estate brand is supercharged.

He ponders the notion and nods his head in agreement: “I have an energetic mind, as do most people, but what I learnt early, possibly from my days in St Peters boarding school in Brisbane, was thoughts are just a waste of brain space, unless they are coupled with actions.” he says.

“I’m not aware of any successful people who don’t work hard consistently and persistently. It has always been that way for me, even before coming to Noosa more than three decades ago,” adds trailblazing Tom who is spurred on by a saying from famous Thomas Jefferson: ‘if you want something you’ve never had, you must be willing to do something you’ve never done’ also quotes from action heroes such as Arnold Schwarzenegger – ‘do it, do it now!’

He is fastidious about a clean workspace, adheres to the process of ‘do it, dump it, or delegate it’, exhibits an innate spirit of kindness to colleagues and clients, and pushes himself hard at work as well as with an exercise routine.

He draws extreme satisfaction from his weekly sales training and mentoring sessions and continues to inspire new generations of real estate services with his unparalleled knowledge of prestige properties, exclusive locations and immeasurable client database.

Of equal importance and underpinning the dynamic team of 23 property sales and marketing professionals, is the support team.

They ensure excellent service to clients is as reliable as a Swiss watch with their expertise in latest industry technology, contract settlements, accounts, and advertising and promotions.

Focusing on world-wide multimedia audiences, Tom Offermann Real Estate also has an exclusive in-house media team encompassing property writing, photography, videography, floor planning and social media management.

Having captivating words, imagery and videos is paramount in today’s digital age, but it is equally important to ensure that they are seen across maximum strategic channels and platforms.

Fiercely proud of his amazing family, their never-ending love and support, there’s no denying Tom’s happy family idyll also washes through to the workplace in numerous ways.

His entrepreneurial skills coupled with judicious planning, the office space in Quamby Place was taken to the next level in more ways than one.

Its modern-as-tomorrow almost gallery-like design by Gavin Maddock, the choice of superior materials and plush furnishings, the latest innovative technology and some spaces befitting a classy residence or a high-end boardroom, brought much acclaim.

Capturing sunlight was foremost in the design outcomes, envisaging shafts of ever-changing light flooding through both levels, so visitors entering the lower level would be greeted by a beautiful structure bathed in natural light.

“It was painstaking meticulous work with the stonemasons taking almost a year to complete the staircase and floors in Daino Reale marble from Sardinia,” Tom explains.

“Opening it to the sky was achieved by re-engineering the entire roof and replacing it with 44mm thick glass, and then adding a usually hidden awning, which slithers across the glass if needed, to control light levels as required.”

State-of-the-art luxury did not stop with the bespoke staircase. It continued into the VIP-style client lounge areas, also numerous workstations for some lucky agents. The sophisticated terrace is also fitted with a glass roof, while herringbone dark oak timber floors, silk rugs and wispy Italian sheers perfectly complement the dark oak custom cabinetry, designer sofas, also sculptures and artworks.

Eight sculptures were commissioned from internationally-recognised Andrew Rogers whose work Rhythms of Life, is the largest contemporary land art undertaking in the world.

Tom met the artist more than 20 years ago, when he was admiring Cook & Banks, the two bronze statues commissioned in 1997 and prominently positioned outside the Quamby Place office.

Visitors are often seen posing with the first privately funded pieces of civic art in Noosa by day, and late-night revellers have been known to dress them in party gear.

“We wanted to create an enjoyable space for clients to feel very special and agents totally proud,” Tom said. “The solid stone stairs had to be the real deal, not skin deep nor artificial, and be an artwork within itself enduring decades, hopefully a century.

“It’s heartwarming to have daughter Rebekah and and her partner, soon to be husband, Michael McComas, also my son Adam, working in the company – and who knows the grandchildren and great-grandchildren might one day be walking these very steps in the business.”
