A Vision for Community with Noosa Civic

From the youngest families to the eldest generations, Noosa Civic has always taken care of our local community. Georgia Beard explores the much-needed developments and school holiday activities coming to the Centre this season.

We thrive on local love in Noosa – morning coffee, groceries and artisan businesses a short drive away; a vibrant arts and cultural scene in our galleries and theatres; and friendly faces and open spaces.

As change-makers and innovators invest in Noosa’s future, positive progress can only come when their vision supports our small-town spirit.

For more than 15 years, listening to the voices of community has been a priority for Noosa Civic Shopping Centre. They’ve gone beyond consumerism to create spaces for all local demographics and service not only our daily lives, but our environment, our health and our joy.

Looking ahead to vital and exciting changes, Noosa Civic is investing further into the services we love while evolving to meet our growing needs.

Developed by Stockwell and approved by Noosa Shire Council in August 2022, the Noosa Civic Medihub will be the precinct’s first dedicated centre for health and medical professionals.

Tertiary health care services for Cardiology and Radiology and General Practitioners, such as Noosa Civic Family Practice, will occupy new spaces in the Medihub, allowing locals access to the care they need within their community.

Noosa Shire Council Mayor Clare Stewart is enthusiastic about the benefits of such a close-to-home medical centre.

“I am very proud of Noosa Council’s support of the Medihub, which will provide life changing and lifesaving medical services to our community,” she said. “It is a game changer for so many in our community, not just those dealing with cancer and other critical health issues but also their families, friends and loved ones who provide care and support.”

With an ageing population and latest figures from the Cancer Council showing one in two older Australians will receive a cancer diagnosis by the time they are 85, the region is in desperate need of further cancer care investment.

Improving access to world-class cancer care services, Icon Cancer Centre is set to build a state-of-the-art radiation oncology service in the Medihub.

The radiation therapy technology can treat all tumour streams and provide more than 900 new courses of radiation therapy each year.

This will allow locals to access world-class lifesaving treatment closer to home and within their community network.

Noosa Civic is not just actively improving the lives of our older generation but also continuing to create spaces to welcome our youngsters.

Weekly activities and school holiday programs have been a highlight for families and young kids in the Centre, offering them a chance to connect, learn and play in a safe and fun environment.

This year, Noosa Civic is hosting the very first Coachella-style Festival for kids next to the Food Court – Kidchella!

In the spirit of the bohemians, they’ll provide lively, kid-friendly tunes and creative spaces while your little ones bring all the good vibrations, groovy dance moves and flower power fashion!

From 3 to 14 April, kids can jive and jam on the light-up dancefloor while the giant boom box jumps with a playlist you can’t help but boogie to!

Alongside the dance parties, festival-themed craft workshops will inspire the kids’ creativity with a series of boho-inspired activities.

Craft workshops kick off with a chance for kids to fashion their own colourful crowns of feathers or flower garlands adorned with blossoms and leaves. Next, the opportunity to master the art of knotting to create a macramé wall hanger for their bedroom.

With an ode to the free-spirited style of Woodstock, kids can also learn to tie-dye caps and bucket hats with an explosion of colour! Their artistic flair will only flourish as they later use festive stencils to create vibrant canvas art.

In the final craft workshop, kids must draw on their previous skills in knotting, weaving and pulling to create a macramé key chain to clip onto their backpack!

As the festival hype takes over Noosa Civic, your kids will keep their minds and bodies active by celebrating their favourite songs, getting in some disco-worthy exercise, exploring their imagination and making new friends!
