Celebrity stylist couple Craig and Lara Argent have created a reality built on a dream to call Noosa home with their own piece of real estate cementing the PONY Beauty Bar empire as a Noosa icon, as Carlie Wacker discovers.

Craig and Lara Argent hail from Newcastle but fell in love with the Noosa lifestyle after holidaying here. They chose to marry in Noosa with the goal to build a life around their celebrated careers and raise their daughter Kiki in their favourite place.

Pony Beauty Bar Noosa is the dream come true! One of the region’s coveted styling salons began as a hip, underground pop-up at a co-working space on Thomas Street, Noosaville and after moving down the road to a larger space, the Argents have come full circle by buying the space across the hall from the original pop-up salon.

The off-street position gives the new home of celebrity style a chic, ‘if-you-know-you-know’ vibe – a kind of salon speakeasy feel. The entrance staircase is unassuming and leads to a style oasis where the staff are as cool as the looks you will sport on exit – it’s mid-century modern meets bohemian and Hollywood glamour where graffiti and gold accents take you seamlessly from chair to basin and spectacular natural light and a subtle breeze flows from workspace to a private courtyard bringing a Palm Springs vibe.

Despite their global experience the Pony team are welcoming and laid back; the conversation is real and the love and passion for their craft is contagious.

Craig has styled global A-listers and worked on blockbuster movie sets and styled the likes of Kylie Minogue, Hugh Jackman, Mandy Moore and Orlando Bloom. He has been the stylist to the stars at some of the biggest events like the Golden Globes, Oscars and MTV Music Awards and is also a Joico Australasian Guest Artist who appears regularly on educational forums.

Lara is one of the most talented and revered makeup and tanning artists in the region working on magazine, video and fashion shoots and together, they bring celebrity style to Noosa with a dream team including Stewart the charismatic Englishman, who’s flawless styling and colour work has graced the catwalks of Europe, London and Sydney and is one of Noosa’s most sought-after stylists; Paula who has worked in Noosa for more than 25 years; and Ellie, who brings the latest International flair with colour and cutting techniques direct from London.

Plus, when super-talented teenage daughter Kiki isn’t winning accolades in her dance career or walking catwalks for fashion labels, she can be found doing the odd shift at her home away from the stage. Add in the ever-entertaining salon dog, Mario, and the dream is now a reality for this stylish salon family!
