Amore Italiano Cibo at Noosa Waterfront

Focusing on refining the classics alongside well preserved traditions, is all about La Dolce Vita, enthuses Helen Flanagan.

Masterful blends of modern innovation, family values paying homage, ingredients allowed to taste as they ought to, and ensuring authentic flavours and techniques of Italian cuisine are not disguised by complex pretentiousness. This IS the Winter of warm content!

The well-practiced artform of a long lunch or dinner, for whatever the reason, is legendary when it’s a waterfront table nudging the Noosa River, admiring the Moreton Bay fig trees as a gondola drifts past.
Overflowing with attentive genuine hospitality or as the Italians say ‘la vera cucina’, expect the best possible overall experience at Noosa Waterfront Restaurant & Bar.

Tucked well away from the hubbub of Hastings Street, it’s a big hit with food-lovers and urban sophisticates from Brisbane and interstate.

At its very heart, the tantalising menu honours fresh and locally sourced ingredients wherever possible, matched with award-winning wines from Australia and imported from Italy.

Behind the excellent attributes and success of the Noosa Waterfront is also the legacy of dynamo Andrea Ravezzani, who has passed the reigns to the entrepreneurial duo of locals Parth Balar the managing director, and business partner and best mate Jyuthik Kevadia.

“We were excited but yes, a little nervous,” says Parth. “How do we honour what’s already so loved, ensure a smooth transition for us, for every guest who walks through the door?

“Thankfully, we’re never alone with exceptional teams who live and breathe the values of the business.

“From the kitchen including takeaway, to front and back of house, they are all first class, and naturally Andrea continues to be of invaluable support.

“Our location is truly extraordinary, and it has a lot to offer in terms of creating memorable experiences, from dining and bodacious birthday bashes to elegant weddings.”

Helming the culinary ‘family’ with quiet confidence for over five years and deeply invested in every plate that leaves the pass, is Italian-born and trained head chef Simone Zambetti. His creations are elegant in simplicity, with a strong sense of place and heritage.

Similarly, northern Italian-born sous chef Matteo Stefanoni, known for his precision and unwavering consistency, is a quiet force behind many favourite dishes. He has been behind the burners since the restaurant opened.

A standout signature dish is Cacciucco, classic Tuscan seafood medley simmered in a perfectly balanced rich tomato, white wine, chilli and garlic broth; a delightful journey to the Mediterranean coast is Mancini spaghetti – tropical North Queensland lobster in a bisque with chilli, grilled cherry tomatoes and preserved lemon; Crispy pork belly, scallops, purple cauliflower, caramelized grapes and fermented cabbage mayo is outstanding; those quackers about duck will adore Pan-seared duck breast, roasted pumpkin and pine nuts; and the Fritto Misto all’ Italiano of softshell crab, prawn, calamari, whitebait and vegetables, lightly dusted in semolina, served with tartare sauce is easily eaten all day long. We wish!

Amongst the main courses are the very shareable 800gr Rib eye steak on the bone; Cotoletta alla Milanese, a 400gr grissini crumbed veal cutlet; and a salt-baked Gold Band snapper.

Vegetarians are well catered for; pasta is made inhouse; and Caviar aficionados will be in Beluga heaven, as will fanciers of Appellation Sydney Rock Oysters.

Leave the best to last? Depends how sweet toothed you are and knowing pastry chef Alex Moore has had 20 years of creating indulgent finishes to a repast, as memorable as they are beautiful.

Look no further than Classic tiramisu, coffee bean gelato and Venezuelan chocolate; Millefoglie a la edo – caramelized pastry, whipped chocolate, candied orange and local honey; Lemon curd, milk pannacotta, raspberry and lemon thyme; and Fragola – strawberry jelly, marigold, roasted vanilla salt, strawberry mousse and consommé.

Here’s to the ongoing legacy of one of Noosa’s favourite Italian destinations.
