Immerse yourself in fun, flavour and joie de vivre as an iconic local French restaurant and crêperie celebrates a national day and a milestone. Rebecca Jamieson Dwyer gets ready to find her Flo…

Are you a fan of soul-warming food, fantastique ambience and all things Français? Then you’ll love the Bastille Day celebrations at Flo’s Crêperie in Noosa Junction this July!

Co-owner Michelle Guillemard says that France’s National Day will be celebrated in true Flo’s style from Saturday 12 to Monday 14 July, culminating in a special Bastille-themed dinner on the Monday evening – making it a sensational soirée to remember.

“The weekend is designed to showcase everything people love about French culture and cuisine, from music and wine to seasonal French specials,” Michelle said. “It promises to be an immersive experience that celebrates the heart, soul and flavour of France, here in Noosa!”

Diners can expect all the usual delicious crêpes, galettes and French favourites, plus limited-edition Bastille Day specials, specially selected French wines, French music to set the mood, and a warm welcome from the (mostly French) team.

The fact that the celebrations take place in the middle of our winter only adds to the authenticity – after all, cooler weather is the perfect excuse to indulge in the hearty dishes France is famous for.

“French cuisine, known for its rich, warm and comforting flavours, naturally lends itself to winter dining, and our Bastille Day celebrations serve as the ultimate excuse to enjoy cheese-laden galettes, decadent crêpes and other soul-warming French classics,” Michelle said.

It may be a celebration of France’s National Day, but the Bastille Day weekend also aligns with another significant moment for the Flo’s Crêperie team – the four-year anniversary of the opening of their Noosa restaurant.

From humble beginnings to opening a second restaurant at The Wharf Mooloolaba and becoming one of the go-to dining destinations on the Sunshine Coast, the team is grateful for a chance to reflect on their journey.

“We’re proud to have cultivated a loyal community of Francophiles, foodies and locals who love the vibrant, welcoming spirit of our venues and return time and time again,” Michelle said. “Plus, we’ve expanded our offerings from crêpe and galette favourites to a full French dinner menu.”

Alongside monthly specials that keep things exciting for regulars and newcomers alike, Flo’s also hosts tasting dinners and exclusive dining events, such as the ‘A Taste of Provence’ event during this year’s Noosa Eat & Drink festival – where Executive Chef François Poulard curated an unforgettable Provençal feast showcasing the rustic flavours of the region.

Another exciting chapter in the Flo’s story has been the creation of their stunning coffee table cookbook, Flo’s Crêpes – a curated guide to cooking traditional French crêpes and galettes from Michelle and her husband Florian Guillemard, the creative force (and namesake) behind Flo’s Crêperie. The book weaves in his story and Breton heritage alongside delicious, creative recipes.

Produced with design and publishing help from the IN Publishing team, this is the ultimate guide to crêpes and galettes and has something for everyone – whether you’re a seasoned flipper or a complete beginner. We love it!

You’ll learn to master everything from traditional favourites like La Galette Complète to the show-stopping Duck à l’Orange Galette, classic flambées like Crêpes Suzette and the elegant Mille Crêpe Cake – plus irresistible extras like the famous Flo’s Salted Caramel Sauce.

If you’ve fallen in love with all things Flo’s and want to bring amazing crêpe creations to your kitchen, it’s a must-buy – and makes a great gift for the foodies in your life.

Four years on, and it’s clear that Flo’s Crêperie has well and truly found its flo(w).

“We’re so thrilled that people love Flo’s for its authenticity, quality, creativity and fun atmosphere,” Michelle said.

Joyeux anniversaire to Flo’s Crêperie – thanks for always bringing the fun, flavour and French fare with flair!

Here’s to many more delicious years.
