For over three decades Tom Offermann has been the pulse of Noosa and streets ahead, setting the benchmark for prosperous property marketing, enthuses Helen Flanagan.

Tom Offermann’s smile comes through in a distinctive way, a naturally optimistic disposition – glass half full.

Warmth and enthusiasm for people and places is palpable, generous and charming; his wisdom, knowledge and experience compelling. Undoubtedly laughter and shared excitement of new beginnings, ensure a balance between success and value every step of the real estate way.

Pride lies not just in the transactions, more the relationships and trust he’s gathered along the way.

And it’s estimated since setting up his eponymous real estate agency, it has assisted 20,000+ buyers and sellers make life-changing decisions. The database is more than testament to the fact. Little wonder he abides by his mantra: ‘It’s our people who give you the edge’.

Long before the paint had dried on the walls of his first office in 1992 in Hastings Street, Tom understood the only way to becoming the best in the business was to provide superior client service.

“And the only way to do that,” he recalled, “would be having first rate personnel, after all this is a people business. Finding and training is a winning strategy, and I continue to lead training and mentoring sessions with the entire team every week. This ensures clients have skilled professionals with consistent and current information working for them on their properties inevitably ensuring the team of 23 agents are successful as well as proud of their achievements.

“What I love about the talented goodhearted people in my world, whether appraising and selling property, in administration, IT and advertising, or the creative team behind photography, videography, socials and property writing, they are in a class of their own.

“It’s not unusual to have two or three aspiring real estate agents, even some who’ve been in the business for 30 years apply for roles, every week. Such a large pool affords the opportunity to be very selective so only the upper echelon join our team. Some bring long term clients, so the flow-on effect means better outcomes across the entire board.”

Whether in the office or at home, Tom squeezes in as much as possible.

Sitting for long periods or reading a novel are given the brush-off in favour of maintaining an active regime which begins early every work day with a jog along the beach and paddling a surf ski.

“Exercise makes me much more energetic during the day, and at weekends I enjoy Noosa’s beautiful waterways whether boating, jet skiing, or e-foiling which I’ve found is a good substitute for snowboarding,” he said.

Tom has a serious interest in motorbikes and cars and loves to go for a spin around the Hinterland on weekends. He is a passionate founding event partner of Noosa Concours d’Elegance in Hastings Street, and when 50 of the finest and rarest cars in Australia and overseas take their given spots for the Best in Show judging, it will be impossible to wipe the smile off his face when he presents the highly desirable winning rosettes.

“Life may be full-on, but when it’s surrounded by great people, and the icing on the cake is being able to do it all in Noosa, life is absolutely wonderful,” he says. “I constantly cram in as much as possible, from work to family and life experiences. People talk about a life balance, and I get that if you don’t really like your work, but for me work and my private life are very balanced. Being incredibly well organised is a vital asset. I don’t ‘switch off’, I just switch easily to ‘family and me’, from work mode.

“Thinking doesn’t even stop when I’m asleep and it’s quite rare I don’t wake up on the tail end of the dream – even my sleep is busy! Building a business is like building a house, brick by brick, day by day, creating great outcomes and experiences for people around you. It gathers momentum, requires constant guidance, never reaching the end of the cycle, until you really reach the end.”

Ahh yes but that’s not going to happen anytime soon.

“It gives me great satisfaction doing things well, helping family, colleagues, and clients, and always with a spirit of kindness. I do push myself quite hard and don’t allow many excuses,” he says.

Ensuring consistency each step of the real estate way delivers gold class client experiences. Add effective and intelligent communications and collaborations across all media – print, digital platforms and more, formidable results are achieved and maintained.
