Making a Difference with Tom Offermann Real Estate

Entrepreneurially spirited and with a strong sense of community, unpretentious Tom Offermann has prospered as an eponymous real estate company for over three decades, reveals Helen Flanagan.

Each morning as the sun blooms on the horizon, stretching ever outwards into the rich blue, meticulous and pragmatic Tom Offermann can be found plying his kayak on the Noosa River, feeling motivated by another exciting day filled with new accomplishments, working alongside enthusiastic people and with myriad interesting and dynamic clients from all walks of life.

A far cry for the self-confessed outdoors-type who, so besotted by the natural charms of the lifestyle location, the young Brisbane-ite decided in 1986 to swap his tool bag for a real estate career in Hastings Street.

Those were the days of no computers, faxes, mobile phones, exclusive listings and 13 agencies in the same street all selling the same properties. Letters were handwritten, typed by the receptionist using lots of white-out and posted to interstate buyers with a stack of photographs fresh from the photolab.

Tom’s first sale of $31,200 for a three-bedroom unit in the Leilani complex on Weyba Road was the first of many until 1992 when, “weaponised with a hand-held mobile phone with a pull up aerial,” he decided to go it alone.

Also recalling that “the phone was used infrequently as it cost 65 cents per minute, and texts were 40 cents so easier to return missed calls from the office.”

A competitor warned Tom he’d fail and go broke within a year by not having a business on Hastings Street.

Tenacious, determined and loving a challenge, the omen turned out to be a huge favour.

Turn the clock forward, and Tom remains adamant that people remain the heart and soul of Noosa, the backbone of business, and the thrill of the chase never subsides.

“During a typical day we meet with business leaders, celebrities, politicians, people at the top of their game from all over the world including retirees and even first home buyers,” he says.

“Our industry and where we live with its abundance of natural assets, provides a unique combination which connects us with a diverse group of people on a level no other profession offers.”

The team of twenty-two talented and highly-trained agents have all the collateral, data and connections that matter, including access to a customer database spanning over three decades.

Harmonious collaborations and premium targeted marketing drive premium results, consistently exceeding expectations.

“It is a tremendous responsibility knowing clients are relying solely on your company for their next real estate move,” Tom says. “These are valuable transactions which can stir strong emotions, and the trust given to an agent is humbling. Every sale is different and immensely satisfying.”

Focussing on wide multi-media audiences, Tom Offermann Real Estate also has an exclusive in-house media team encompassing property writing, photography, videography, floor planning and social media management.

In today’s digital age, captivating words, imagery and videos is paramount, but it is equally important to ensure that they are seen across maximum strategic channels and platforms. In fact, the proven track record shows the trail blazing company’s listings are viewed up to 10 times more than those of its competitors. Money cannot buy this unprecedented and unparalleled social media visibility.

Equally important is the company’s sense of community as a major sponsor for over 30 years of the Noosa Heads Surf Life Saving Club; community engagement partnering with the inaugural Noosa Concours d’Elegance on Hastings Street, as well as a weekly surf report helmed by world champion Josh Constable and filmed in stunning locations.

Real estate-wise, notable achievements include being the top selling real estate agency on the Sunshine Coast out of more than 400 competitors, currently number eleven in Queensland; and as frequently reported in the Weekend Australian’s Mansion section, sales records are continually smashed in numerous suburbs and well-known precincts.

In the highly desirable destination of Noosa where world-class architecture and design contribute to its allure, the indelible optimism and success of Tom Offermann Real Estate since 1992, continues to inspire new generations, and change the face of real estate by always making a difference.
