Meet the Makers at Makers Mark

Local jewellery studio Makers Mark have moved to a stunning new space in the heart of Noosa Junction – all the better to showcase their highly curated range of all that glitters, including their own luxury pieces hand-crafted in store, discovers Rebecca Jamieson Dwyer.

When Rebecca Collingwood of Makers Mark holidayed in Noosa from South Australia years ago, she visited Noosa Junction’s Pavilion precinct and thought to herself, “If I ever move to Noosa, that’s where I’d want to have our jewellery store.”

Fast-forward to the current day, and Rebecca and her jeweller husband Jaemes are proving that dreams do come true with the opening of their brand-new studio in The Pavilion – an elegant, light-filled, welcoming space with minimalist signage, classic white VJ boards (a nod to the classic Queenslander home they’re currently renovating), antique furniture, and views of gently swaying trees and the bustling retail street outside.

“When we first moved up here three years ago, we had a pop-up shop in Noosa Village Shopping Centre, which turned into a permanent space,” Rebecca says. “It was really great for building relationships and getting our brand in front of the community, but we eventually outgrew it, so we’re really excited to be starting this new chapter!”

Makers Mark’s unique, highly curated collection of jewellery includes brands from The Netherlands, Denmark, Germany and Australia, such as Diamond Designs, NAJO, Daniel Bentley, Ikecho, Coeur de Lion and others, as well as a selection of fine jewellery that’s been crafted in-store by Jaemes – a highly skilled Master Jeweller with over 30 years’ experience.

Gold, diamonds, precious stones, silver, pearls, swarovski crystals – whatever your adornment of choice, Makers Mark has something that’s sure to catch your eye, including a stunning exclusive collection from their luxury diamond jewellery supplier, Sarusi, that has to be seen to be believed (pictured).

Lovers of luxury certainly won’t be disappointed with the selection of stunning high-end pieces, including dress and engagement rings, earrings and pendants made with 18 carat yellow and white gold, platinum, precious stones, and rare, highly desirable Argyle pink diamonds.

Rebecca understands that the joy we get from jewellery doesn’t necessarily come from its value — it’s more about self-expression and the sentimental value we place on these pieces.

“Our studio features a diverse range of collections, made of the highest quality materials and gemstones. We also enjoy sourcing special pieces from across the globe, according to our client’s specific wishes,” she says.

Jaemes regularly works with customers to design and craft bespoke pieces such as engagement rings, bracelets, necklaces and other meaningful items, and the process of creating something for a client to treasure for a lifetime is a part of the job he really enjoys.

“Whether it’s creating a symbol of love or designing a custom piece that reflects your unique style, Jaemes will collaborate with you to ensure your dreams are brought to life,” Rebecca says.

He’s also well-known in the Noosa community as a safe pair of hands for repairing precious pieces, often working on family heirlooms to give them a new lease of life and allowing them to be loved by future generations.

Customers have been known to turn up at Makers Mark with a handful of dated jewellery that no longer sparks joy, with plans for Jaemes to transform it into a new treasure.

“Jaemes has been creating and designing exquisite jewellery for over 30 years. His knowledge and expertise in the jewellery industry ensures every piece he produces is a testament of his commitment to timeless craftsmanship,” Rebecca says. “So if you have gold jewellery and gemstones you no longer wear, you can trust him to expertly repurpose them into a stunning new creation that you can enjoy for many more years.”

It’s increasingly rare for a Master Jeweller to be working on the shop floor these days, which is why Makers Mark have designed their store with an elevated, forward-facing workbench for Jaemes, so customers can get the thrill of seeing him on the tools as they browse and personally meet the maker behind some of the pieces.

Rebecca and Jaemes originally started the business around 25 years ago, but have just celebrated the brand’s third birthday in Noosa and have big dreams for the future.

“We’d love to build on the retail side of the business, and let people know that we make many of our pieces right here in the studio,” Rebecca says. “Jaemes has collected numerous parcels of precious stones over the years and plans to create many new bespoke pieces in the coming year, so keep an eye out for our special Makers Mark collections.”

One of the pair’s most treasured elements of Makers Mark is the connections they’ve made here in Noosa over the past few years.

“We feel so blessed to be part of the Noosa community and it’s been a real privilege getting to know our loyal locals,” says Rebecca. “Working with our clients to create beautiful handcrafted, bespoke jewellery has been an integral part of our business’ success over the last 25 years, and we’re passionate about creating or caring for the precious pieces that are part of your story too.

“We’re so thankful for the relationships we’ve built here.”

Just like the diamonds that sparkle within their cabinets, the future’s looking bright for Makers Mark!
