Melanie Rosettenstein reveals her beautifully rejuvenated and glowing skin after a series of innovative and non-invasive treatments with the Cosmedic Lab skin experts.

“Oh, my word… look at your glowing skin!” has been the general reaction from friends and colleagues since I started on my skin-spiring journey towards revitalised skin with Bianca Dyda from Cosmedic Lab in September. Growing up in the bright glare of South Africa and being part of a sporty family means a lot of outdoor time so it wasn’t surprising to discover I had sun damage, pigmentation and fine lines developing. Closer inspection also revealed open pores around my mouth and on my chin – and tired-looking skin under my eyes.

After meeting with Bianca to unpack my skin niggles and needs, she recommended two rounds of the Venus Versa Bibella treatment followed by a HydraFacial – all three to address light pigmentation marks, fine lines around my eyes, mouth, and chin, and to put the ‘bounce’ back into my face. The Bibella Treatment is a double rejuvenation for skin that needs tightening and resurfacing – the perfect intervention for my 44-year-old face!

Bianca tackles the pigmentation first where the Intense Pulse Light (IPL) therapy delivers precise light into the skin’s deeper layers to repair and rejuvenate from the inside out. A real-time cooling system protects the skin from the heat and ensures safety and comfort.

“This stimulates collagen production for a more even complexion,” she explained.

After testing to make sure my skin would not react, Bianca started the process of sweeping the electrodes from the sides of my face over my nose, around my mouth and eyes and finally over my forehead. I tolerated the sensations quite well although admittedly it did feel quite sensitive around my chin, nose, and eyes. But Bianca made sure I was comfortable every step of the way with her calm, professional and caring presence – not surprising given her background as a qualified nurse.

With phase one of the Bibella treatment done, the gel was removed and a head of painless pins, the Nano Fractional Radio Frequency, was then passed over my skin. Again, Bianca assessed to see if there would be any adverse reactions before sweeping the head of the machine from one side of my face to the other. This phase is slightly more uncomfortable than the first one with Bianca explaining that this fractional tightening and resurfacing treatment delivered energy to the skin’s surface making small wounds to stimulate collagen production.

“It’s extremely effective but also leaves your face feeling hot,” she says.

While not painful, this phase also felt sensitive in key areas, especially on the soft skin around my eyes and Bianca mitigates this by counting down how many times she’s going to press down in a particular area. To counteract the heat, Bianca placed a cooling mask on my skin for a few minutes, followed by ten minutes under the LED light to reduce redness before applying a finishing balm. My face was a bit red, earning me the name ‘Oompa Loompa’ from my daughter but by day two it was back to normal, albeit feeling a bit rough as the old skin cells make way for new.

I could already tell my skin was smoother and clearer and people had started to comment on my glowing appearance. I eagerly awaited the next treatment when I could see my, now friends, at Cosmedic Lab once more. Four weeks later and I wasn’t disappointed. Bianca took me through the same process: radio frequency, pins and LED light, before booking me in for the final phase – the world famous HydraFacial. This innovative serum-based skin resurfacing technique provides laser-like results without the laser. The steps include cleansing, exfoliation with lactic and glycolic acids, and the use of a suction mechanism to remove impurities and dead skin. Cosmedic Lab’s head dermal therapist, Deb applied the HydraFacial sharing that it was designed to target various skin layers using different acids for deep pore cleansing and anti-ageing effects.

“It also includes hydration, antioxidants, and LED therapy – just ten minutes is enough to have your skin looking and feeling amazing,” she said, adding that everything ends up in the ‘gunky jar’ and mine was almost full – it’s been a while since I had a decent facial.

The HydraFacial is great as part of the Bibella package or can be used as a standalone treatment and at $215, provides excellent bang for buck.

“Depending on your needs, these treatments can be done fortnightly or every few months,” Deb said. “It’s also a great option for teenagers who could benefit from a deep cleanse.”

To best support the treatments and maintain optimum skin health, I’ve been using the cosmeceutical-grade A-Zinc Kit from Synergie Skin Clean Science and my face, minus the gunk and now smooth and hydrated, has never felt or looked better – I’ll never look back!

Even better is that the tailored monthly treatment was manageable for my busy schedule with the easy, set-and-forget membership program and weekly bite-size instalments assisting with budgetary planning. I now have a greater appreciation and understanding of how to achieve and support healthy skin thanks to Bianca and the skin experts at Cosmedic Lab.

Confidence, clarity, glow – my radiant skin has been uncovered! Glow on – what are you waiting for?
