Rich Winter Harvest at Gusto
Busting it out with heart warmers in harmony with the season whilst embracing the riverside setting is quintessential Gusto. Helen Flanagan fine-tuned her taste buds in anticipation.
The ever-evolving French-leaning restaurant with a modern coastal ethos is evocative, classically cruising in style, has well-defined menus, beverage lists and naturally impeccable service.
As the weather cools, we crave heartwarming food – and nobody does this better than the French and the French-infused menu at Gusto Noosa.
Dreamy dishes destined to delight include French classics with a local flavour such as Beef Bourguignon, Cassoulet, Confit Duck; and look out for the six-hour brined pork chops with a boost of heavily roasted Jerusalem artichoke puree and sautéed red cabbage with hidden delights of Granny Smith apples and sultanas.
You’ll also taste the subtle flavours of cinnamon and star anise influenced by Head Chef Sacha Ryan’s love of fragrant spices and close associations with local producers, farmers, fishermen and their premium harvests.
Overlooking the crystal calm waters of Noosa River invokes a taste for seafood, with Gusto owner Timothee Lepoutre promising Moules Mariniere plus the continuation of the Sole Meunière – a dish so popular that it is flying out of the pan and onto the plates and into the hearts of diners.
Gusto’s Seafood Chowder is both creamy and dreamy with prawns, scallops, mussels and fish du jour and
is made with a traditional potato base – a classic which never gets old!
Look out for the fish board with a large selection of fresh fish and the option to choose the perfect garnish for your tastebuds.
Talk about catch of the day. Tres bien, tres fresh!
“French dessert aficionados will rejoice knowing a Pear and Frangipane Tart Tatin may also make a cheeky appearance,” Sacha says with a knowing wink.
Tim is bringing the French flair and flavours for a fresh new season and adding extra firepower to the kitchen with the appointment of Aaron Bailey as Executive Chef.
Aaron will add extra gusto as well as relieve some pressure from Sacha as the Australasian Featherweight champion pursues her career in professional boxing, competing in Superfly and Bantamweight divisions.
What a knockout combination!
Gusto’s menus range from a la carte to weekday highlights, Saturday and Sunday sensations, as well as specially created events and functions in the private dining room. Perfect for groups of 12-38, the space is intimate and customisable to the occasion – from boardroom lunches to birthday celebrations – even intimate weddings – the team can deliver your dream.
Specially designed menus and drinks packages are a delight to create for both the guests and the Gusto team who love sharing in your special occasion or event.
Looking for perfect grape expectations? Gusto’s sommelier Dale Potts is salivating at the thought of winter wines.
In particular, he’s excited about Gamay, explaining that the grape variety of Beaujolais has always been the poor southerly sister to the famous Burgundies (Pinot Noir) of the world.
“It represents great drinking, is always more affordable than cru Burgundies, and fantastic with the lamb shoulder or Kidman Station eye fillet on the menu,” he said. “The wines are medium to light bodied, earthy, have notes of pomegranate, blackberry, floral notes of violet, are supple and savoury, super easy to drink and quite seamless – no beginning and no end. We serve our Gamay at the perfect temperature of 14C.
“By the way, some of the noted crus of Beaujolais include Cote de Brouilly, Fleurie, Morgon and Chiroubles, and for Gamay, look no further than our very own Adelaide Hills and McLaren Vale, where it is grown very successfully.
“For those steering away from the big Barossa blockbuster reds, Gamay is a great alternative.”
