Chocolate Dreams at Noosa Chocolate Factory

Noosa Chocolate Factory is choc-full of artisanal deliciousness. Rebecca Jamieson Dwyer and the IN Noosa team embrace the tough job of being taste-testers.

Is there anyone in the world who doesn’t love chocolate? If so, they definitely aren’t part of the IN Noosa Magazine team! Excitement levels were high as we made our way to sample our favourite flavours at Noosa Chocolate Factory – in fact, you could say we were like kids in a chocolate shop.

Founded in 2009, Noosa Chocolate Factory has been hand-crafting slabs of dark, milk and white chocolate wonders every day for more than a decade. As well as making many of their fillings from scratch in-house, including their famous salted caramel, jelly inclusions, macadamia brittle, marshmallow – and so much more.

Their gorgeous Noosa retail store is located right next to the factory where the magic happens, and its shelves are positively laden with fine artisanal chocolate of all shapes, flavours, sizes and colours – the dream situation for this self-confessed chocolate addict!

But with a sensational selection of slabs, panned delights, boxes and bunnies (hello Easter!) as far as the eye can see, how’s a person to choose?

Luckily we were up to the challenge of biting off (almost) more than we could chew to give you our unique takes on our favourite flavours.

After all (chocolate) dreamwork makes the team work, right?

Sweet as!

Bex: I’m a milk chocolate gal and can’t resist raspberries, so the Smashed Raspberry slab with 36% cocoa milk chocolate was calling to me from the moment I saw it sitting pretty and pink on the shelf. The contrast between the tangy freeze-dried fruit and the smooth, decadent chocolate makes this an outrageously delicious pairing! Plus raspberries are a fruit and fruit is good for you – so it’s basically a health food! Right?

Carlie: I do love chocolate, especially when it’s from the Noosa Chocolate Factory. My favourite ever is the Rose Turkish Delight with handcrafted rosewater jelly – it’s a little bit mysterious and a whole lot sexy!

Megan: It’s all about Mango Macadamias for Megan – mmm!

Matt: I can’t go past the Rolled Pecans – freshly roasted pecans covered in milk chocolate and rolled in cocoa powder. I love these because they use Boyne River Pecans from Mundubbera, which are the best pecans you can get, coated in the best chocolate in the world!

Michelle: I love the Smashed Peppermint – handcrafted peppermint crisp smashed in rich 70% dark chocolate. It takes me back to my childhood and is choc-a-block with minty goodness!

Jakki: My favourite is the Coconut Marshmallow – I love these because they’re very friendly on my lactose-intolerant belly and they’re also delightfully squishy! You can’t beat the combo of freshly made marshmallow topped with toasted coconut. Yum! Oh – and the Vegan Chocolate range is THE BEST I have ever tried. On behalf of the lactose free and vegan community, thanks!

Deb: I’m obsessed with the White Chocolate slab – 29% cocoa white chocolate with notes of caramel and vanilla – it’s pure, just like me. Everything will be all white!

Millie: I love the Whole Strawberries – they’re freeze-dried Australian strawberries coated with 70% dark chocolate, and they’re absolutely (or should I say ‘berry’?) divine.
