About
Sunshine Beach Surf Club has been the heartbeat of the local community since 1979, when resident Marjorie Tripp’s letter to the local paper sparked the club’s founding. More than four decades on, every dollar spent at the bar, bistro or a function still funds vital lifesaving services protecting one of Queensland’s most challenging open beaches.
Completely rebuilt in 2020, the club now serves more than 1,900 meals a day in peak summer, earning Best Family Dining Venue for South East Queensland honours, with Head Chef Darren Sandilands and his team of 16 chefs recently introducing globally-inspired dishes drawing on their own heritage. The club also doubles as a beloved live music venue and stunning function space with panoramic ocean views, while its Beach to Bar program gives young lifesavers real employment pathways from Nippers through to university.
It’s community, career and coastal culture, all rolled into one.
